Richard Chamberlain's Gay and Once Did Not Like Himself
ArriveNet ^ | July 7, 2007 | J. Grant Swank, Jr.

Posted on 07/06/2007 8:32:39 PM PDT by tnarg

"When I grew up, being gay, being a sissy or anything like that, was verboten," Chamberlain tells NBC. "I disliked myself intensely and feared this part of myself intensely and had to hide it."

It is not pleasant being homosexual.

Ok. The debate is on. Those who say a person is born gay. Those who say a person chooses gay.

So the room heats up with every emotion possible as the two go at it.

Which is it?

Some biblically religious state that God would not make a homosexual. Therefore, the homosexual chooses to be one; therefore, he is at fault at best and at sin at worst.

The 'other side' says that deity has nothing to do with it. A person is born homosexual — period. It's just a fact of biological reality.

Then we have Esera Tuaolo, 34, NFL player for nine years, who reveals that he is homosexual in an HBO interview on "Real Sports".

Athlete tough guy tells the world that he retired early in 1999 because of excessive frustration over keeping to himself his sexual orientation.

He told reporters that "they didn't know who Esera Tuaolo is." He claims that most of his public life was nothing more than acting out a part that was not fact.

Tuaolo, native of Hawaii, went into severe depression over his orientation, so much so that at times when driving at high speeds he contemplated twisting the wheel in the direction of ending-it-all. His head got that bad.

Tuaolo's remarks remind me of Rosie O'Donnell's TV dialogue with Barbara Walters. Rosie stated she was born homosexual. She said that no one would choose that lifestyle for it is laden with too much anguish; in other words, anyone in her right mind would choose heterosexual.

Back to the debate: I side with those who conclude that a person is born homosexual. And that does no disservice to God.

If one reads Genesis' first chapters, these verses state that when God created all things planetary, all was good. But there was a snake in the garden. Eve yielded to the snake's lure. Then Adam. And so both sphere and soul fell, that is, both became severely damaged due to mortals’ disobedience.

That damage impregnates everything, including the sexual nature of male and female.

In the heterosexual, not all is well, for sure. For instance, there is always the striving to return to marital paradise between heterosexual husband and wife. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't.

In the 'original sin' damage dealt to a spiritually fallen world, some mortals are thereby conceived with a homosexual bent--plain and simple. They grow up with that bent. At puberty they sense it come to the fore. As adolescence progresses, it becomes more pronounced.

Most deal with the latter realization with as many emotions as there are homosexuals--confusion, angst, denial, anger, depression, fear, faithlessness, and so forth.

Some 'out' with it; the vast majority live with the secret.

However, if one can understand biblical truth, one can begin to grapple with the spiritual aspect of the situation so as not to blame God. The snake is the one to blame—along with our first parents.

Eve and Adam went for snake's bait. All humans sadly have paid the awful personal price ever since, some being dealt another-than-heterosexual bent.

Bottom-lines according to the Bible:

 Homosexual orientation is not a sin.

 Homosexual practice is a sin.

 Heterosexual practice outside of marriage is a sin.

 Therefore, both homosexual and single heterosexual believers call upon the Holy Spirit’s fruit of discipline to live the victorious spiritual life.

God has already forgiven her. Jesus is the proof of that. Isn’t that enough for you? If there are consequences for her actions she’s already encountered them. It’s not to us to judge.

Sort of a British thing for “thank you” … Q, get it! Worked with a Brit years ago and I guess some things stick.

Ok. The debate is on. Those who say a person is born gay. Those who say a person chooses gay.

There are other positions as well.

Science has failed to support the born that way theory and from what I've read, scientists who are also homosexual have stated they never will find a gay gene or any science supporting the born that way theory. I believe they make the above statements because science has, repeatedly, demonstrated environment plays a major factor.

But if homosexuals are not born that way and they don't choose their same-sex attraction, what other positions exist? That's a great question with a complicated answer.

Former homosexuals or ex-gays exist, some of whom are freepers and their numbers are growing. I posted the Michael Glatze story a couple of days ago. Michael was the founding editor of Young Gay America magazine. Charlene Cothran, longtime publisher of Venus magazine is another. Both Michael and Charlene were leaders in the homosexual community.

The I Do Exist video documents the lives of 5 former homosexuals.

The common theme we see in each story is the claim that their same-sex attraction wasn't a choice... but neither were they born that way... What former homosexuals tell us is their same-sex attraction wasn't a choice because they were confused. The science behind homosexuality is complex and can only be understood by studying all the available evidence.

Michael Glatze says:

Part of the homosexual agenda is getting people to stop considering that conversion is even a viable question to be asked, let alone whether or not it works.
That much is obvious for those having followed the homosexual agenda for years but it's good to see a former leader in the homosexual community make such an honest statement.

Of course there are those who claim to be Queer By Choice and there are others who have previously admitted to choosing the homosexual lifestyle.

The issue is definitely complicated.

I think it’s odd that people on this forum dwell so much on the question of whether homosexuality is inborn or developed post-birth. Whether it is genetic, or hormonal, or learned.

Those questions might matter to the activists on either side who seek to make petty arguments this way or that way.. I guarantee the average homosexual doesn’t give two sh*ts how he came to be attracted to the same sex. He doesn’t care why he likes the same sex because he can’t imagine being any other way. He doesn’t want to be. Activists opposing “the homosexualization of America” should focus on convincing homosexuals that they should want to be heterosexual, or they should drop the issue altogether. Everything else is “sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

“If that’s true, then it could be considered a sort of birth defect.”

That’s all Dr. Laura was trying to say when she mentioned that it is a “biological error”. Then the homosexual militants flew into a rage swarm and forced the networks to cancel her tv show. Even a child has the common sense to see that men and woman, just like all the animals, are designed to procreate.

As far as Richard Chamberlain - I stand by what Michael Savage says in that he has one of those soft, euro-pedophiliac unisex faces. It doesn’t surprise me in least that he is a b-pirate.

the lord forgives those who repent. they must repent in order to show their sincere contrition for committing sins. there is no ‘automatic’ with divine grace and mercy.

those into biblical study find themselves in biblical study, hence the research into various moral dimensions. and so it will always be as long as there are biblical believers who take the bible seriously as divine revelation.

1 Corinthians 6:9...

I'm curious what Bible version you used as it looks like the New American Standard, but not quite. You may not realize this but you quoted verse 10 with verse 9 and if you keep reading to verse 11 you'll see something very interesting; for verse 11 states (In the NASB):

Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
The key here is such were some of you. Change is possible.

o yes. change is very much possible. very much so.

thank you for pointing that out.

i think that it is possible but i personally—with no data to go on—think it is rare. nevertheless, you and i know that with the lord anything is possible.

on another point, i think there are countless homosexual leaning born again christians who are celibate and wrestle daily with this homosexual situation.

they pray for deliverance but they do not experience deliverance. i have no stats on that. none. it is just my thinking this through.

nevertheless, there are countless heterosexual born again celibate christians who wrestle with the normal sec drive and wrestle with that daily. so welcome to this earth’s existence, eh?

thanks again.
