CLEVELAND -- A neighbor apparently angry about noisy fireworks shot three people to death early Thursday and wounded two others, police said.

Terrance Hough Jr., a 35-year-old off-duty firefighter, was arrested in connection with the shootings near his home shortly after midnight

The shooter was apparently upset about loud noise from fireworks at a house next door and opened fire, killing two men and a woman, all in their early- to mid-20s, Stacho said. He said another man was shot in the elbow and a woman was wounded in the hand.

Why do people think it is ok to set off explosives in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the night???

Maybe because they are more concerned with enjoying the holiday than not annoying their dorky, uptight neighbors.

It was after midnight, the guy has 3 children and he had asked them to stop repeatedly prior to losing it and shooting them up. There is more to the story than what has been published so far.

So? This is murder. Why didn't he just shoot out their tires or something a bit less reactionary? Unless the fireworks were coming in through his windows, then no there isn't any more to the story.

HHmmmm, dorky and uptight.... OK Genius, explain to me how you can tell that from my post. What time would it be ok to get tired of explosions in my front yard? Midnight, 1 am, 2 am? Maybe 4 am would be the point when it is ok to ask a jerk to stop blowing things up?

I was raised to be considerate of others. Too bad your mom didn't raise you better.

I want to do the same sometimes with a neighbor who won’t take down his windchimes. But then I’d end up on. . . .death row? Moron shooters give the rest of us a bad name. Cold dead hands and all that.

I thought about doing this at 11:30 last night. Why do people think it is ok to set off explosives in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the night???

OK, but if you have to, use a silencer, ok?

“”””Only in South Central.”””

South Central Baghdad!

Some perspective. That off-duty cop should have been thankful that he and his neighbors were being protected from the ‘real thing’ thousands of miles away, by young men and women with more sense, more control and more love for their fellow man!

Obviously not to be confused with the 9/11 or NC9 heroes!

I live in a city where fireworks are banned. Yet last night they were going off all around until well past 11p.m.

I live in a STATE where anything that leaves the ground or spins around is illegal. The laws are a joke. There are firework stands on nearly every corner selling obvious illegal fireworks for weeks before and after the Fourth.

The blasts last night continued til 3:00 AM and every year the time period lengthens. They start about 2 weeks before the 4th and continue for several weeks after.

When I drove home last night at 11:30 pm - there was so much smoke from fireworks, the whole city looked like there was a dense fog. The smell of gunpowder was overwhelming. There were a couple of booms so loud the glass in the window panes was vibrating. These were as loud as sonic booms.

I don't mind some celebrating - but its getting insane in my neighborhood. I will let you guess the ethnic national origin and racial make-up of my city.

It's an independence day tradition, and it happens all over the country. I can put up with it for one night, it's not a big deal.

Did you really think about shooting someone over some fireworks?

Well, standing in my paddock last night with three horses and a neighbor who likes to buy the big $%&*! from the reservation, I had the same thought myself! “Should I just stand here with the horses or should I grab the shotgun and go next door?”. I absolutely love my peace and quiet, and I absolutely HATE fireworks. I just hope it’s over now.

I hate picking up the debris off my roof every year, wondering when they are going to set a house on fire. I guess we have to wait till our homes go up in smoke before we can justify shooting people.

Well it was july 4, after all. And couldn’t we re-phrase your question thusly “why do people think it is OK to murder 3 people in cold blood for the crime of annoying you?”

In this equation, who really was the most inconsiderate person? The folks with the fireworks, or the guy with the loaded gun?

Do the words ‘proportionate response’ still have any meaning?

“”””I absolutely love my peace and quiet,””””

Do you ever have those fantastic summer storms that stab the ground with lightening, rattle the hills with gut wrenching thunder, the wind whining and the rain roiling down the gullies?

Dontchyah, dontchyah?

Thanks Corin... seems like as good a place as any to vent my fireworks rage.

Seriously... of course murder is not “OK” (Do I have to say that?)
