I had to take an online course....and I couldn’t stand it.

Others who’ve done that didn’t mind it at all; but, I really didn’t like it.

I’d really rather be in class, but my stamina won’t let me. I have to not only take the classes at the keyboard, but also do any work here, if someone hires me.

My daughter is doing some stuff online, but I don’t think she’ll stay with it. She gets excited about something, but doesn’t follow through. I hope she does, this time.

I found it VERY difficult to stay focused online. It was very boring for me to sit and listen to powerpoint presentations online. I just didn’t like that. I prefer in person learning....I don’t know if it’s because of the social part/interaction part, or what. I just really had difficulty staying focused, and I do quite well in school with grades and work completion...but no more online for me.

If someone can do it, I understand it’s much more convenient...that part I did like.

Good luck to you (and your daughter) face....hope she does well and sticks with it (you too).

It will probably be the end of summer before I know about school, so I’m not even going to surmise what it will be like.

I think you’re right about the social interaction of the classroom. I’ve always liked the atmosphere, and usually come out with a 4.0, as I see the class as “competition.”

I don’t know how this is going to be, and my daughter is so busy with work and family and school that I haven’t had time to ask her how she’s doing.

There have been a couple of classes I’ve had that were presented by boring people, but I still got over the boredom in the books! LOL!

The absolute WORST is when your prof tests you on material NEVER covered in class.

My biology professor did that in my undergrad class. He’d go over lots of things in class, but never what we read in the book. And I didn’t always “get” what was in the book. But he didn’t test us what he lectured on.

Finally, I quit listening to his lectures...and didn’t even go to those all the time, so I could reread my biology chapters at least twice, every time, so I could teach it to myself.

Then I got A’s, while everyone continued getting C’s and D’s (the grades I first was getting on tests).

Idyot!

Going to dive into the shark tank, eh??

Seriously, though, it's good to know there are some of "us" willing to get on the inside of "The Machine" and -- with any luck at all -- sow some seeds of greatness.

We can all discuss how wrecked "the system" is (ref. the links on my profile page), but the fact remains that millions of our neighbors' kids are stuck with it, and "going in" to help them survive is, perhaps, even a higher calling now than ever before.

I salute you.

“Hidden paws”?? HA! If they’re so hidden, why do I need a vacuum cleaner?

They’re not hidden; they play with my kids’ slot car set at night — the evidence is inarguable. They use my computer when I’m not around; their loose appendages clog the grilles to the cooling fans, and cling to the internals where I have to suck them out on a regular basis.

No, they’re not hidden, they’re right out in the open; look into any quiet corner, or just inside the shadow of any piece of furniture, and you will find evidence of them.

When you do, just pray God you do not also hear it laughing...

Yes...that is indeed what it will be, I fear. But, I feel stronger my calling is to, as you say, "sow seeds." It has always been my calling...but those ambitions were on hold. The first three years will be very political, from what I understand....so, if I can get by that....it should be easier to help. And, ty for your kind words.

Clark County (NV) is desperate for teachers. All kinds of perks, including housing that you can buy for special rates.

Maybe you’ll be able to inject some sanity into your curriculum, wherever you go. Keep us posted on your progress!

I think I’m going to go back to school, too, but I’ll be doing mine online.

What will you be studying?

About the only thing I can do without leaving home: Medical transcription.

It will be Fall before it comes together, though. I would like to be a paralegal, but I think I’d have to be more exposed to the public, and I can’t always do that. So I’ll do something that I can do from right here. :o])

Uh-oh! Typos in the clone genome. This does not bode well.

Ah. My mother did that for a while, while she was here in Seattle.

I've been on the other side of online classes, having conducted some that way in lieu of flying halfway around the world. I didn't like it -- too little feedback.

This is far too funny to be zotted.

It could go down in Freeper history along with the Stuned Beeber thread.
