I heard nitroglycerin with Mexican jumping beans works well, too.

If I understand you correctly, the acetone ate through the container you were using as a measuring cup. Which sounds like you didn’t add any acetone to your tank at all.

Which means you will see no change in your mpg efficiency at all.

Don’t add acetone to your gas.

Why not drink some while you’re at it?

Imagine tuning into Cops one night and they're arresting Dems all over the place. What a show that would be!

The ultimate in feel-good TV.

"...do you think I will get a drastic improvement in mpg efficiency?"

Yeah, bud. Go 50/50 and it will be a jet.

"it had ate through the bottom of the cup thing!"

This is a joke right?

Why not try some nitro mixed with gas and tell me how it works out.

Acetone, and rubber gastank top fuel lines, plastic gastank, and rubber fuel lines under the hood do not mix.
Not unless you LIKE having gummy taffy like hoses that blow out under minimal pressure when you need power the most.
Not to mention the gastank turning to ooze beneath your car, slowly, drop by drop.

One trick: has to be pure. Contaminants, as from waste acetone, must be filtered out or stripped or else the engine can run VERY rough.

So is the acetone sold at Home Depot or wherever pure enough for use in a car?

I heard about the “mothball trick”. Supposed to increase octane. But then, it’s abrasive as hell and will ruin the engine RIGHT AWAY....?

I would assume so. Purity should be stated on the can.

If it isn't, I think I'd shop elsewhere, as for instance a chemical supply store (probably cheaper there anyway).

Acetone is not an expensive chemical, as such things go. I shold prefer strongly to buy a bit more quantity than to pay a substantially higher price for a small, 1-fill-up quantity.

Also -- very important -- OBEY the storage instructions! Acetone is highly volatile under certain circumstances. You don't want any part of that game, m'friend, not at ALL!

FReegards!
