Attention Linux, Vista, and Apple fan boys: put on your gloves... it's time to rumble! A 6-month vulnerability report issued by Jeff "Security Guy" Jones has caught the eye of Redmond and the ire of places beyond. The report which bases its security assessment upon vulnerabilities found (not actually exploited) claims that Vista is "more secure than OS X and Linux." In fact, the much maligned XP even crushes the competition using their calculations. Of course, it's worth noting that Jeff is a member of Microsoft's Security business unit which will probably sway your opinion as to the integrity of the data. Still, as incomplete as the assessment may be, it certainly appears to be a good showing for Vista considering the vast community of hackers attempting to thwart its security. We can predict what Billy G's probably saying right about now: Dy-no-mite JJ!

LOL!! Break like the wind, dude...

Better get here quick...
In before Golden Eagle..lol...
Hear ya! I bought into the Windows propaganda back in day. Have been a Windows users for decades just shows you how smart I am duh! My next computer will either be a Mac or a pure Linux system, no more Windows for me.
Sigh. Where did you hear that from? Bill Gates?
The most ubiquitous web server on the planet is Apache -- available on what platforms? -- no hurry -- take your time --
In Before Golden Eagle.
I can't believe he'd pass up an opportunity to trash the open source and BSD communities, and sing the praises of the boys in Redmond.
So I'm amazed he's not here already...
I see, thanks.
Thanks, yeah we already discussed it on another thread...

Even according to Secunia (foreign computer security site) Vista has fewer holes than any other mainstream desktop O/S, including less than the new Red Hat which just came out.
What Microsoft has lost by increasing security though, is some functionality. If you need that more than security, stick with Windows XP.
Ahh, a repentant soul
Grace will come to you my Son...
LOL! Thanks, I needed that.
And I’ve never said that Windows users are a bunch of piss-ant surrender monkeys
Hardly ever. It's Stallman and his "free software" I have some questions about.
I think the pirate blouse picture would be a better fit.
Are you also happy with your weekly jaunt into the wonderful world of Windows Update to get the latest fixes?
Sorry, I don't buy it. Trying doing a Google search on "Vista Animated Cursor Security Hole" -- what you'll learn is that Vista is NOT a re-write, but re-hashed XP - BECAUSE XP has / had the same vulnerability. Vista's base code = XP. Same crap.
From a usability stand point, its much, much worse and far more intrusive. If you have any kind of intellectual curiosity, You MUST read A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection By Professor Gutmann. It is a stunning eye-opener of Vista. In a nutshell, Microsoft is so determined so control the content on your computer, that reduced functionality results. Its an extremely long, thorough, and damning account of Vista. But worth the time to study it.
I don’t have a weekly jaunt into updates.
It’s pretty clean, I’m running it natively on one laptop and in a virtual machine on another and performance is good on both. Security was the one major issue Microsoft was facing, so far they seem to have done a decent job of addressing it, but that is of course what should be expected of the market leader.
