I'm really news-ignorant this a.m. Tried not to pay attention over the weekend...
Anyway, It may be a little later before I can post some links...
I discovered over the weekend that I am illegal.
At least as far as driving my car is concerned.
I drove up to Benning in plenty of time, got the car registered, checked where building #4 is, and then pulled up to the gate to enter. But then the guard said, “did you know your license is expired?” My heart totally fell. I had no idea, but apparently it expired in February. Furthermore, the guard would not at all let me on base.
There was no bargaining with him either.
The end of the story is that JemiansTerror looks really good.

The guard was just doing his job. It worked out OK in the end.
Jemian... get that darned thing renewed... or better yet... just have congress pass a bill exempting you from any expiration. ; )
We had a nice Father's Day yesterday. Although I worked at the Nature Center most of the day, my family prepared a nice dinner for me last night. (My world traveling daughter brought me back a beautiful Rosary from Dublin. I cherish it!)

Good to hear, Jemian, that you DID get to see your JT in spite of the problem....did he verify that you really are his mother, not an illegal immigrant?
I am constantly amazed, lysie, at the number and variety of the pictures you post. Where do you find so many appropriate ones?

Northern, it is the first thing on the agenda to do today. I think it is just a matter of going down to the courthouse and getting my picture taken and paying the fee. I’ll get LD or perhaps my dad to drive me. Ooopsie!
CM, I DID get to see JT but that was way after the fact. Nope, he didn’t confirm I’m not a terrorist; in fact he may say that I have terrorised him when he was young. We’re not going to check that too closely.
What happened was, that I turned around and was heading up I185 and was at mile #4 when I remembered the name of the contact person who helped set this up. So I called her and she came down to the gate and let me in.
I offered to show the guard my other country’s license but he wasn’t buying it. The issue wasn’t me being on base, but DRIVING on base. There was no way I was going to be allowed to do that without a valid license.
But I did talk with JT. He looks good. I passed along your well wishes. We didn’t really talk of anything consequential. It was good to see him.
CM, can’t we add Johnny to the StudMuffin list? GC6, would you mind sharing the honors?

Everyone, I'm going to be scarce the next 2 weeks due to family events and commitments...it's just as well...
The news has been getting to me: the revival of the sham immigration bill...the horrible Gaza situation....the local story about the missing pregnant Mom...I'm not even listening to Bill Bennett this morning....

Good Morning All. Warm in central Texas.
Just finished showing the new boss around and introducing her to my staff. Really looking forward to having her take over the Flight. Current boss will be moving on this Friday and the change will really be a good one for us.
