I knew someone who drove on a suspended license and got 3 days in the slammer for it. That was one time and this person wasn’t even under the influence. So, I don’t know why some people are syiang 45 days is excessive for 3 violations with 2 of them involving alcohol.

What people fail to remember with Paris is that she was on probation and a JUDGE had taken her license. She is a dang fool. BUT she pushed this and must now pay the price. She is a 26 year old woman - she is getting what she asked for - a big ol’ spanking from the judge. I think she can handle it.

I am with you a 100%. She continually disregarded the judge’s orders. Not to mention, showing up late. I am really surprised that her attorney’s and publicists did not convince her to behave respectfully. She must really believe that she is above the law.

If I had her money, I would have someone drive me around everywhere I went, lol.

(p.s. sorry about the typo, should have hit the spell check button).

delighted in her fall from whatever grace

Grace?! She drinks, she drugs, she is promiscuous and has an STD. She 's in full self-destruct mode heading toward a brick wall with no boundaries. And all men see is a blond with bazooms . Where are your conservative values?

She showed that she has no respect for the law and will not obey it. The judge gave her boundaries. She ignored them. Now she has consequences.

an angry judge who is now squabbling with Baca.

From the original judges order: When she was sentenced May 4, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled that she would not be allowed any work release, furloughs or use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail.

Baca is in contempt of court because of the outlines in the sentencing.

People do not get arrested for some supposed future crimes that they have not committed and YET to commit.

And neither was she. Are you suggesting that we don't arrest and punish DUIs until they hurt someone?

This woman drinks, drugs, is promiscuous and has an STD. She's in full self-destruct mode. The judge set boundaries, no driving. She ignored him. Now there are consequences. Hopefully, this will be a wakeup call for her.

Oh and I have no idea what "Minority Report" is.

The fact that she was warned but not ticketed does not count as a violation legally. It just doesn’t.

It certainly indicates her intent and level of respect for the law.

She has had only one revocation.

It was revoked for reckless driving in connection with her DUI. And she drove TWICE afterwards. The rules don't apply to blonds when lust is involved?

Doesn’t look amateurish to me. That is leagues above my graphic abilities.

I feel bad for her, because I’m not a liberal.

She isn't hated because of her class -- she is hated because she displays no class. There are plenty of rich and/or famous people who are productive, law abiding members of society. Sadly, I can only think of Mandy Moore as a well-behaved young lady from that field of Lohans, Hiltons and Spears. I might be able to think of a few more. There are even a few that have had run-ins with the law that I can respect. I don't particularly care for Martha Stewart or her politics. But I do respect her for the way she handled her sentence with dignity. Paris Hilton is toxic for American culture. The fact that someone is finally holding her accountable is what we applaud. I don't care if she makes zillions off this stint. She can be richer than Oprah for all I care, so long as she pays her debt to society.

The judge has a certain parameter in which to work for sentencing offenders. He can use his discretion while still following the law. Ever hear of tough love? Perhaps the judge felt that in Paris’ case, it was going to take more than the usual slap on the wrist to make an impression on her. She’s headed down the same path as Anna Nicole Smith.

As a mother of daughters myself I see alot of bad times ahead for this girl if there isn’t a major catalyst in her life that changes it’s direction. This constant pandering to her and the “poor pitiful Paris” attitude is only hastening her to an early grave.

If I had been the judge I would have done the same thing. This girl needs more than just the usual Hollywood style re-hab to change her life and get her on the straight and narrow. Yes, in this case I believe that the judge would be right to give her more penalty than someone else may have gotten while still staying within his legal parameters.

Yes, he may have been harsher because of her celebrity status. But unlike others, I do not think that is a bad thing. I think the judge realizes that it was going to take a harsh dose of reality and not the typical Hollywood Justice Lite to get through to this girl and cut through all of the celebrity, wealth & power. No one is above the law. The sooner Paris realizes this and takes responsibility for her actions the sooner her life will start to get better.

For the record, only one of her violations involved alcohol. That said, I still don’t consider 45 days to be excessive for someone who violated the conditions of her probation on 3 counts.

I have seen defendants shaking in court regardless of drug use. When there are jury verdicts, sentencing decisions announced, motion rulings etc. you can’t determine anything from that.

FNC has really gone down the porcelin whirlpool if shepard smith is providing any kind of comentary about anything.

If she'd been a nobody, said nobody wouldn't likely have had the brass to give the judge a hard time. To violate her probation twice. To flip the bird at the law. If the judge threw the book at her it was because she invited it. How many poor and downtrodden do you know who do that?

You apparently don't know very much about the middle to lower class in our society then and how they interact with the police and the judicial system. It would seem that they get the breaks all the time. The police nor the judicial system thinks that they are going to be reformed nor do they try to "send a message" by whatever they do. A lot of these people will be violating all sorts of laws, they'll be detained for a bit, some stuff confiscated and/or a ticket issued (which will be dismissed later on) and they're on their way again.

What you're referring to, more than anything else is a more self-righteous mode of thinking coming from certain ones in the middle and upper class, who pretend they adhere to the laws (while violating them in so many other ways), and want "show trials" and "mock justice" instead of true justice that works across the board.

Of course, if it were true justice that worked across the board, then it would involve locking up a lot of those same people who cry out for justice.

But, even with some of those in that group, they may end up, at various times, on the wrong side of the law (with either drugs or tickets or other miscellaneous civil and/or legal violations) and they will be most frequently given breaks, with minor fines and/or community service, and then the expunging of the record.

There are so many people that I've come across who keep right on driving, while suspended, with it meaning absolutely nothing to be suspended. And I'm talking about a lot of those same middle to lower class people (and those who are working and/or who have families/kids, etc.). If they get caught, they'll be given some kind of work permit and keep right on driving anyway, with nothing more than a fine.

This -- with Paris Hilton -- was nothing more than some "showpiece" of "pretense of justice" -- because the common person knows that true justice doesn't exist and they wouldn't want true justice to exist (or else it would bite themselves in the butt).

Here 30 days for driving ONCE on a DUI/DWI suspension while on probation is SOP.

Geraldo’s ignorance to the ACTUAL practice of law aside, 45 days for TWO suspension violations and the probation violation is pretty easy famous or otherwise.

She should be thankful she does not live in a must do 85% of time state.

hatred of the rich is not buried very far down in the American psyche - and it takes very little to bring it to the fore - but not to worry, John Edwards is already on it.

Yeah, it's nothing more than this hatred of the rich, anyone who is perceived to have more advantages than another group -- and a desire to see them "get theirs", to even up this "disparaity" that they feel so oppressed about. It's not justice, but simply "gladiator politics" of justice, in which certain people get to vicariously beat up those who have those benefits that some feel they've been deprived of.

Yeah, but his commentary was pretty funny! It wasn’t very professional or objective, I’ll admit, but it was funny.
