Heavy rain, high winds, hail and tornadoes battered the Upper Midwest over the weekend and a rerun is in store for Wednesday night and Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
Sunny skies and cool temperatures today and Tuesday are the calm before a fast-moving jet stream ushers in warm, moist air on Wednesday, setting the stage for atmospheric fireworks that could produce brief periods of heavy rain, damaging winds and even spin up tornadoes, said James McQuirter, a forecaster at the National Weather Services' Chanhassen office.
"It looks like a pretty good threat," said McQuirter.
As a result, the Weather Service has posted a moderate risk of severe weather for most of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.

Late Wednesday and Thursday could get a little rough.

I would not get too excited about this...MPLS is in the ‘slight’ risk area...eastern SD & NE and Western IA are in a moderate risk area.

We’ll have to start a live thread if things get ugly.
Good idea.
I was watching Channel 11’s news a few minutes ago and they seem to think that the really bad weather won’t arrive ‘til the evening or overnight hours.
But then again, given the lack of accuracy among Twin Cities meteorologists, I’ll wait ‘til tomorrow to see how things develop.
Here’s an interesting site you might wanna check out:
These boys have a knack for being where the bad weather is. If they think that it could get bad enough, they’ll head up this way. They’ve done it before.
Of course it goes without saying it’s all George Bushs fault. Before George Bush stole the persidency we never had bad weather, in fact I believe that during the Clinton years we had nothing but blue sky's, and the occasional gentle soaking rain.
The way the Twins are getting their asses kicked right now, I might be doing the same shortly.
Possible relocation back to the Tundra (hooray!)
Prayers for safety would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Consider ‘em said, GW! Hope your interview goes well!
This is quite an outbreak. I think the SPC is being too conservative for tomorrow. I would bring the Moderate and High Risk into the the MI/OH/PA/NY area for tomorrow. They say there is a lack of weak low level wind fields. I have no idea what they are seeing that I dont see.
They’ve been saying that Skywarn activation may be needed for Friday for two days now. That’s always a sign to me that they’re pretty sure and we’re in for it.
