Let's put this under the category of "all good things must come to an end."
For the vast majority of 2,264 days, I have had the distinct honor and priviledge of starting this thread for the benefit of all who frequent this place.
It has been a blessing and one I will remember for the rest of my days.
Having been here through the start of the Iraq War, the immigration battles (which are still going on), hurricane KATRINA, and through all of it holding true to the Constitution, and the goal of improving the "American Way of Life". What I have learned in that time is that there are so many others who believe in these same principles--often there are those who express these things more elequontly than myself.
Demands on my life at this point, however, are dictating a change. I am finding it less and less possible to carve out the time to be faithful and true to the thread. I have kids getting ready for college, major turmoil at work (not my doing, but I'm stuck in it), and competing hobbies.
I will just cut right to it, I don't have the time in the morning anymore like I used to.
Thus, it is with a heavy heart that I have concluded this will be the last time I intend to start the ATRW thread. I would still like to be a member of this august group, but I think I would much prefer to post when I have time, because I need to get some time back to myself--particularly in the morning as I figure out what I need to do during the day.
I realize this is sudden and I apologize. I do hope, and I believe, that you folks will carry on. I am not leaving FreeRepublic, just becoming more of a "back bencher" for awhile. I wish to remain on ATRW's ping list for as long as ATRW continues.
I hope everyone understands. I'm just burned out.
Thanks.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
I subscribe to Discover Magazine. This month’s issue has a headline:
” Politically Incorrect: Can the Sun be Causing Global Warming? “
I kid you not !!!
>>I’m just burned out.
You aren’t paying enough taxes.
Will do, Toby.
I just wanted to ad my deep felt thanks to you for all your years of dedication to this thread.
In years past, my friends here at ATRW encouraged me back to health after a serious surgery. I felt their prayers for strength and healing as I struggled back to the ‘real world’. It was YOU who provided a forum for them to encourage me.
Likewise, I’ve taken many a turn in praying others back to health. It was YOU who provided the forum, which in turn developed the freindships which made that all possible.
You have unselfishly donated hundreds of hours to this thread. Thank You is hardly the word to express appreciation for all that time.
But Thank You is the only would in our language to do so. Wishing you leisurely mornings with time to visit ‘your thread’.
Thank You.
And it will be no big deal for sure.
How did it go with Jason’s papers?
In the system for adoption, should only take a couple of weeks, it depends on the work load of the attorney.
I think lysie and I can continue to start the thread, but on a weekly basis, with another one for the weekends.
Would that be followable?
This thread...and the UvC one which I started for some months...personally have seen me thru much: family deaths, the last years at home, college, and then away of my sons, and the early "empty nest" years...
There's just something about being able to connect so easily and early (!!) in the a.m. with like-minded friends. HA!
My experience isn't unique, I know...
And in the larger sphere: the last Clinton years, 2 contentious national elections, devastating terror attacks...those events without our gathering every day to share and support are simply unimaginable.
So my thought is to continue as long as possible, if that is the wish, and it appears to be among some of us....
Thank you so much for all your years of dedication to this thread. As one who ran the thread for about 9 months before Molly Pitcher took over, I know how much time and discipline it takes to keep it going.
Your opening this thread every morning gave us a way to keep track of each other. And for the most part, this thread, regardless of the storms and arguments elsewhere, remained a place where people could disagree without being disagreeable.
Thank you for all of your work, and enjoy your new-found leisure time. You earned it!
Details will have to be worked out, but Molly and I will give it a try.
To you who have ‘vacated’ here, come on back, we love you and miss you, hear me MozartLover?
lysie is a gem, but you know that...
You BOTH are the best!!!!
Thank you, Chair.
You’ll always deserve that moniker.
I have to go. Sarahs birthday is tomorrow and since she works we are celebrating tonight. BBL
lysie, Happy Birthday to Sarah! Enjoy your time to celebrate.
