Yes, she's tough. Sometimes I think she is too tough, but the vast majority of the time, she is spot on.
People almost always know what they should do - they just don't want to do it. She calls them on that.
Perhaps you'd call that sadistic. I don't.
‘All ex-liberals have sordid pasts.’
(chuckle)
Just about everybody does to one degree or another in my experience.
The difference is most of us won’t dare to lecture others about their behavior, knowing our own skelton’s in the closet quite well.
You’re saying that everyone is stuck at the point in life where they committed their worst sin.
The only thing I can offer is that Dr. Laura probably has a powerful legal team and they probably told her to say nothing. Has this boy been discharged? Has he been brought up on charges? Rape, torture, and child molestation? Gee, maybe he has amnesia and forget that his mom is a highly controversial public figure. Now, who would want to smear Dr. Laura using her 21 yr. old Army soldier son? Hmmm?
‘Youre saying that everyone is stuck at the point in life where they committed their worst sin.’
No, I’m saying a woman that lived with another woman’s still married husband for eleven years has no business lecturing anyone on how to live their life. Especially in as insulting a manner as this woman does from what I’ve heard the few times I had the chance.
She lectures young women who are living with a man, not married, saying its ‘sinful’, yet she did so for over a decade.
She likes to lecture young women ‘dress like a slut, you’ll be treated like a slut’, yet she not only lived like a slut, she did a series of nude photo’s that confirmed it for all time.
Personally, I think she needs therapy. Just my opinion.
We agree that making mistakes in your own personal life shouldn’t ‘define you entirely’.
Where we part company is when a person with a highly questionable previous lifestyle dares to lecture anyone about their choosen current lifestyle.
Thats hypocrisy writ large.
‘Everyone is a sinner. Apparently she has learned from her colorful past and is trying to teach others without having to follow her poor example.
On the other hand I find her manner to be offensive.’
Yep.
From the TMZ website today:
TMZ has obtained a disturbing photo which shows a man, who could be the son of radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger, holding a pistol in his mouth while giving a “thumbs up” sign in front of the flag of Afghanistan.
The photo, which was featured on several Internet blogs, was supposedly ripped from a MySpace page allegedly created by 21-year-old Deryk Schlessinger, a Specialist with the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan. The MySpace page has since been deactivated.
TMZ has confirmed with an Army rep that a photo of a man holding a gun in his mouth did in fact appear on the MySpace page in question. The rep would not confirm the man’s identity.
wisdom
noun
Definition:
1. good sense: the ability to make sensible decisions and judgments based on personal knowledge and experience
2. wise decision: good sense shown in a way of thinking, judgment, or action
3. accumulated learning: accumulated knowledge of life or of a sphere of activity that has been gained through experience
I agree...
...I'm always intrigued by people who choose to define a hypocrite as anybody who has ever learned a lesson from their mistakes. Especially if that person tries to share the pain of their lessons to prevent another person from having to go through what they did.
And, if she didn't have her own painful lessons then the cry would be: What right do you have to judge others?
Something tells me that Deryk didn’t post that page. I’ll be glad when My Space is defunct.
but, I bet this is a fake, and I for one can forgive her for past indescretions.....
‘Apparently you don’t know the history. That tends to get in the way of knee-jerk holier-than-thou-ism.’
Actually I know it very very well, as noted above, and this woman has made ‘holier than thou’ a new INDUSTRY.
Sheesh, no problem if you like Dr Perky....too each their own.
Me, I don’t think much of a woman that lived with a married man for eleven years that wasn’t her husband, did nudie pics, and now wants to lecture everybody else on ‘morals’.
“The media will love this one. They hate Dr. Laura even more than they hate the folks who serve in our military.”
If indeed it’s true, the media attention is justified. As for Mommy, she is a HUGE hypocrite and a complete phony. Great parenting there Doc.
I haven’t heard anything since this broke last week.
To me this suggests the story is false, for if it were true the press would proclaim the outcome everywhere (which has not happened).
“To me this suggests the story is false,....”
Time and the completion of the army investigation will tell. But his mommy is still a phony.
