A topic that's ripe for some jest
No time for a screed
Why *Johnny* can't read
When such morons the schools infest!

limericks are 9-9-6-6-9 syllables

You can change the diction by timing your breaths or which syllables are stressed--the linguistic equivalent of a tromp d'oeil or an analogy to a pro baseball shortstop scooting by second base with his foot but not *quite* touching it on the way to making a double play.

Alternatively, you can make minor changes to adjust the number of syllables, *if* you desire to fulfill pedantic requirements.

Cheers!
