Owner Boots O.J. Simpson From Restaurant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 9) - The owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville said he asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.

"I didn't want to serve him because of my convictions of what he's done to those families," Jeff Ruby said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "The way he continues to torture the lives of those families ... with his behavior, attitude and conduct."

Simpson, an NFL Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner, was found innocent in 1995 of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and Ron Goldman but was found liable in a civil trial that followed.

Ruby - who owns restaurants in Cincinnati, Louisville and Belterra, Ind. - said Simpson, who was in town for the Derby on Saturday, came in with a group of about 12 Friday night and was seated at a table in the back. A customer came up to Ruby and was "giddy" about seeing Simpson, Ruby said.

"I didn't want that experience in my restaurant," Ruby said, later adding that seeing Simpson get so much attention "makes me sick to my stomach."

He said he went to Simpson's table and said, "I'm not serving you." Ruby said when Simpson didn't respond, he repeated himself and left the room.

I’m taking odds: How long until Sharpton or Jackson try to shake this guy down for not serving a black man?

How does OJ have time to go out to restaurants? Isn’t he busy searching for the Real Killers?

“Simpson’s attorney, Yale Galanter, said the incident was about race, and he intended to pursue the matter and possibly go after the restaurant’s liquor license. “

Paging Al Sharpton, paging Al Sharpton.

Anybody in Cincinnati can tell you Jeff Ruby won’t be intimidated in the least by OJ’s lawyers.

I was so-called journalists would learn a little about the law - he was found “not guilty” not “innocent”. There is a big difference, especially in this case.

was found innocent in 1995 of killing his ex-wife

Not being anal, but wasn't he found 'not guilty'?

I thought there was a legal difference.

Somebody else must have been paying...I know OJ hasn't been able to pay a dime to the Goldmans' for the civil case he was guilty in...he doesn't have any actual money!

Seriously, I've always respected Jeff Ruby, and now moreso. But he should watch out...this is exactly where Jackson's kind of bold, in-your-face racebaiting flourishes. If shame were spit, these guys couldn't lick an envelope.

well I am not a lawyer...I work for a living but on “Law & Order” you’re either “guilty” or “not guilty”

and OJ was found “not guilty” in criminal court and “guilty” in the civil court lawsuit...fwiw....

Did OJ's friend Al Cowling ever testify during the murder or civl trials?

I never remember seeing him and wonder what they talked about during their slow rolling getaway chase.

I saw the owner interviewed this morning and he said OJ's blond date was all in his face and he stated to her "Your blond, better be careful he doesn't slit your throat!"

OK. So a sandwich walks into a bar, strolls up and hops onto a stool, and says, "Yo, 'tender - a rum & cola down here please."

The bartender looks down disdainfully and says, "We don't serve food here."

“was found innocent in 1995 of killing his ex-wife”

and of course those of us who don’t believe in being in two places at the same time...his wife’s blood on his socks found in his bedroom was all the evidence needed to convict!

can you say “jury nullification”

"He screwed with the wrong guy, he really did," Galanter said by telephone Tuesday night. Hey moron - private businesses reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. Among these are 'causing a scene' such as the one the owner clearly stated he did not want this person, causing in his restaurant. A lawyer that clearly got his law degree as a Cracker Jack prize.

no in criminal, yes in civil

if you want to know more, “google” is your best friend...

I used to live in the Brentwood and I put this whole case behind me a long time ago...
we all KNEW HE MURDERED HER. But to see people admire this murderer is outrageous!

I don't quite have enough time.

Results 1 - 10 of about 43,800,000 for Oj [definition]. (0.15 seconds)

I feel like you do, why do so many people admire this guy and why any woman would date him is beyond me.

It has always bothered me that the prosecutors in the murder trial never called Al Cowlings to testify about what they talked about during their Bronco ride.
