My Dragonfly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Hi Meg, thank you for the lovely presentation!
Did you write the text? If so it is lovely.
To: Lady Jag
Wonderful traditional graphic and great poem.

Thank you! I found it somewhere and had saved it..It had no author listed...nor a title.
I am about to go clean a gutter..That long line of thunderstorms the length of Texas has moved over to the east. I can get at least the “troublesome” downspout flushed out. Little showers may pop up again soon..

Soaring Feather,
... has Bent Feather decided to change her name or are you the thread host now? It has been quite awhile since I have been here. Computer troubles and then got out of the habit of spending time here on Free Republic.

Hey, hey, Countyline, yes it’s me bentfeather!
Nice to see you old friend. Well, I am honored that you came around looking for me, gosh it is good to see you.
Sorry about your computer issues. When one gets weened from the web it is tough to get the habit back.
Keep coming back and leave some of your great poetry with us, please. :)
To: Countyline
Sorry I did not answer your question regarding my name change. Well, it is a long story, I had to do it for my protection and that of my family. Someone had taken liberties with my FReeper name. All is okay now.
To: Lady Jag
A very appropriate poem. Thanks for posting it.

There is discipline in A Soldier you can see it when he walks, There is honor in A Soldier you hear it when he talks. There is courage in A Soldier you can see it in his eyes, There is loyalty in A Soldier that he will not compromise. There is something in A Soldier that makes him stand apart, There is strength in A Soldier that beats from his heart. A Soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do, A Soldier is the soul of that man buried deep inside of you. A Soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week, A Soldier is always A Soldier even while he sleeps. A Soldier serves his country first and his life is left behind, A Soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind. If you are civilian - I am saying this to you..... next time you see A Soldier remember what they do. A Soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free', A Soldier is the one that is brave protecting you and me. If you are A Soldier - I am saying this to you..... Thank God for EVERY SOLDIER Thank God for what you do!

Memorial Day weekend is important to me. Men in my family have served in the Navy and the in-laws are Army. In addition, currently there are friends and family serving in all branches of our military. They are the best people I know and I can’t help but respect them.

Good night everyone.

Some days its hard to be a poet, some days you wish not to write, to blend memories and words, past and present, in one heart, one soul, so many scars.
Reverberations
Sad this day
echoes upon echoes
echoes of young men long gone
echoes of violent times long past
echoes of pains and fear carried still
echoes that haunt the silent mind it fills
echoes that time can not make move fast
echoes that visit from dusk to dawn
echoes upon echoes
the debt we pay

Well I'm not doing too well at staying away from the Internet cafes! Here I am surfing again!
It's just that the Internet is the source of all things interesting. I open windows on a lot of subjects (of interest to me, that's the key part, you can watch TV or listen to radio, but if they veer off on something you don't care about, you start to feel bored), and jump around between them.
Now I have widows open on the Logical Fallacies, numerous FR stories, Alcibiades (ancient Greek guy), I'm listening to 1980s music, checking email and sending immigration faxes, and following developing news stories! The fun never ends! I can surf like that for 5 hours and still wonder where all the time went.
I really must get that little laptop, very much sooner than later. Add to all this, I'd like to also explore how to do some professional work since my teaching schedule is advantageous that way (technical writing, corporate communications, different kinds of analysis, and whatever other business opportunities are out there, like getting Off the Beaten Path up and running).
As I said, the Internet is the source of all things interesting!
