Did anyone get this email about May 15 2007? On this day, the email states that there is going to be a walk out on buying gas, throughout the U.S.A..
In my opinion and the way gas prices are sky rocketing in the United States, this is a great idea! Lets show these politicians and oil companies who is really in charge, us! Lets all banned together, and show them how we can control the price of gas too!
May 15 2007
1. Everyone in the U.S. does not buy gas for one whole day! Gas up a couple of days before May 15.
2. Same goes for Natural and Propane gas, don't use it for the whole day.
If we don't make a stand now, it will be too late!
Why does it seem Free Republic is full of mean spirited scoffers these days? If this is the response a one day gas boycott gets, the Republicans don’t stand a chance to win because the only good ones get booed out of a thread.
Send me $30.00 to me by paypal and I’ll send you plans for the new water injection system for cars. Very few people know about this secret.
I’ll throw in the fuel line magnet for free. You know the magnet that aligns the carbon molecules? This thing rocks.
I’ll have to pay millions to ebay for using their name. :o)
Smooches to you and your fellow traveler right below you!
I sooo love it here!
If you really want to make a difference in the price of fuel, then
1) Slow down your speed - faster driving equals more fuel burned.
2) Use alternative transportation (bicycles would be the best if you have that ability)
3) Carpool when and as much as you can
4) cut down on trips to the store - If you don’t really need something wait until your next trip.
5) Arrange your commute so that you leave at a time that the traffic flow isn’t at its peak - leave earlier or later if you can - the less stop and go traffic you encounter the faster you will get to work and the less fuel it will take.
There are probably more things that people can do to reduce how much fuel they use each day. The post regarding the fact that not purchasing fuel on one particular day will just mean that the day before and the day after will see a spike in fuel purchases is so totally right as to beg a “Duh”.
yeah, might not work, but don’t you think instead of putting up with the rising gas prices (like most of these people want to, they all must have money to burn), us as American citizens should do something about it?
This is an old idea. It has been debunked for several years now. (See upthread for the snopes link)
Whenever anyone posts it as “new”, we FReepers have a good-natured time joking at their expense.
Doc Braun had one of these added to his Delorean, but the huge oil conglomerates got rid of it! :0)
In Before The ZOT. Zotting is the banning of trolls. The word comes from a comic strip. (B.C., I think). And that’s not a dumb question!
And this is why it’s an old idea, people that don’t want to do anything about it.
Come up with ways, ideas, this is how things get done.
It was a worth while attempt, I would be down for the decoder ring gig :)
If for the month of May, you use and purchase the same amount of gasoline as normal, all you show them is you are gullible and do not understand supply and demand.
Why don't you encourage everyone on May 15th to call their congressman and representative to open ANWR, Bristol Bay, the rest of NPRA and all of our coastlines to exploration and drilling?
SoldierDad came up with some winners in post 66.
Check it out.
And one other thing about this one day boycott..... it will only serve to harm the mom and pop owners of the small convenience stores.
Big oil would not be fazed a bit.
then there still is hope of many comprehending economics and making sound choices.
By "do something" you realize you are suggesting buy the same amount of gasoline, buy it earlier than you intended and give the suppliers a day of rest?
There are car share organizations springing up all over the country...ZipCar, CityCarShare, among others.
They claim that using a car share service saves gasoline, but does it really? People who would ordinarily not be driving now have easy access to cars, which, it seems to me, result in more cars on city streets, not less.
Am I missing something?
Huh? Are you suggesting Balboa’s suggestion was a ‘good one’? Or are you suggesting that we should humor him/her?
