Gas prices are out of control!

Did anyone get this email about May 15 2007? On this day, the email states that there is going to be a walk out on buying gas, throughout the U.S.A..

In my opinion and the way gas prices are sky rocketing in the United States, this is a great idea! Lets show these politicians and oil companies who is really in charge, us! Lets all banned together, and show them how we can control the price of gas too!

1. Everyone in the U.S. does not buy gas for one whole day! Gas up a couple of days before May 15.

2. Same goes for Natural and Propane gas, don't use it for the whole day.

If we don't make a stand now, it will be too late!

OTOH, because it’s still inconvenient, they may not use it as much as if they actually had their own car.

Also, I’d imagine (don’t know) many of these people already had cars. I doubt it’s increasing the number of drivers/cars substantially.

But I could be wrong. Pure speculation at this infantile stage.

Here, let me hit you really hard with the ClueStick.

Yes, the raw price you're paying is very high. But if you adjust the price for inflation, we're paying less now than we were paying in 1980.

Additionally, the average family is still only spending around 4% of their disposable income on gasoline, which has been pretty consistant for decades.

Finally, how much is it worth to you to have unlimited mobility and freedom? In Europe they have to pay more than twice as much per gallon and they have less disposable income.

If you want to reduce how much of your monthly budget you pay for gasoline, then drive less. Or lobby to lower the taxes on each gallon of gas which amounts to about 20% of the cost. Or work to remove government regulations that jack up the price of gas. Or fight the requirement your state may have for more expensive gasoline formulations and "boutique fuels". And you can work to get Congress to allow more domestic fuel production, lessening our dependence upon OPEC and oil cartels.

The oil companies aren't going to be affected at all by a one day boycott. Anyone with even the slightest clue knows that this annual temper tantrum's only effect is to make people roll their eyes at how naive some people can be.

Absolutely fantastic idea. But when was the last time that the people in this country were actually in charge?

Example 1: Most Americans want illegal aliens to leave. GW knows it, the Congress knows it, and yet there is talk of a general amnesty.
Example 2: Not many Americans favor the idea of globalization. Yet the wishes of the people are conveniently ignored in this matter.
Example 3: Most citizens want better control of our national borders, especially after what happened on 9/11. Any response from government?

Any suggestions how we can tell government who is really in charge? Voting does seem to be ineffectual.

OK LETS GO THROUGH THIS ONE MORE TIME!!!!

I drive to work 5 days a week.
I need $40 of gas per week to do that.

Whether I buy $40 Monday
or $20 Monday and $20 Wednesday
or $10 Monday and $10 Tuesday and $10 Wednesday and $10 Thursday,

it doesn’t matter. I still need $40 of gas every week no matter which day I buy it on.

The people that come up with this are “stick it to the man” IDIOTS!!!!

If I bought $10 worth of gas everyday but decided to boycott next Tuesday, I would have to buy $20 worth on Monday to cover Tuesday. ITS STILL $10 A DAY.

Damn I get tired of explaining that.

Would that be gasoline or natural gas or city gas? I don’t plan to buy any of those products the entire month of May, but I might stop by the gasoline retail station on the 15th just to see how things are going and perhaps buy a new set of tires for the SUV.

And keep those tires inflated! That makes a surprising large difference in mileage.

I plan on using exorbitant amounts of gas at the dragstrip this weekend where I am surrounded by vehicles that use up to 5 gallons PER MILE.

Then I am going to drive back home and use the gas grill to cook half a dead animal and gorge myself on meat and beer.

Have you seen the price of a bottle of water? Sheesh lets all not drink water for week?

There is really something wrong when I can buy soda pop for less then I can buy an equal amount of water. /sigh. Used to cry when water was about .25 a gallon. Now I just laugh.

Don't take it personally; they're just blowing off steam. This trite crap comes up over and over and over on the 'net.

Just remember that when you get e-mails to do or don't do something on a particular day, delete them. Especially when it comes to boycotting gasoline--they got you by the short hairs there. Makes about as much sense as those people that only put in 5, 10 bucks at a time gambling that the price will go down--it's a sucker's bet.

Speaking of bottled water, my Bro-in-law just called my wife with a story he read about moms using bottled water in infant formula are causing pediatric tooth cavities and they are up over 300%. We have a 1 y.o. and use filtered tap water that does not take the fluoride out, but thought it was interesting.
