WHILE RESEARCHING SOMETHING, I CAME UPON THIS LITTLE SNIPPET OF RUMOR IN WIKI:
Margaret Carlson is an American journalist and a columnist for Bloomberg News.
[snip]
She is unrelated to television journalist Tucker Carlson. Carlson has been romantically linked with former Senator and potential Presidential candidate Fred Thompson. While Thompson denied the rumors, the rumors have persisted in the Washington DC gossip circuit and are reported to be hurting Thompson's presidential aspirations.
As I recall Margaret Carlson was chasing Fred during a time he was already seriously dating or even engaged to his current wife Jeri.
There was a piece that came out in a DC paper about how Jeri would return to her chair only to find some other girl-flies always buzzing around Fred. She made a remark about that and Carlson’s name got specifically mentioned.
Carlson got huffy about it on TV....and that was the end of it, I believe.
You know, it’s possible that Margaret Carlson wrote that herself in Wiki. Hmmmm?
Hadn’t thought of that.........
Fredipedia v2.26: The Definitive Fred Thompson Reference
Please FReepmail jellybean if you want on/off this list. WARNING: This ping list can often be extremely active.
I don't think Fred would need a slumpbuster.
Wikipedia garbage.... Nothing to see here.
Besides, Margaret Carlson is a big step down from his wife...
Hilarious- ..in fact Margaret had only good things to say about him on Chrissy’s show a few weeks back.
Fred dated lots of women. He was single! Good for him and them.
And BY THE WAY...Fred’s former wife Sarah has said she will CAMPAIGN for him.
Not sure if other candidate’s former wives will do the same...
HOWEVER- IF you take the time to read the linked back pieces provided at the Wiki page on Margaret- you will see the “hurting his chances” comment was about the 2000 race- NOT THE ONE FOR 2008!!!!
SO- whatever YOUR intent was for posting this- it’s NOT flying.
Go away GNAT!
FYI only. No intent on the content. Didn't know the comments were that old. But it makes for a good conversation........
Understood:) But that’s why I went back and read the pieces linked- to see if they were current and relevant. It seems Wiki needs to have someone CORRECT them!
Not to mention poor homely Margaret's looks...Fred was an item with Lorrie Morgan the gorgeous country singer, and from what I have seen of his wife, she is no slouch either.
Mrs. Fred Thompson would certainly be an improvement over Mr. Hillary Rodham, IMO ;)
I’ve never understood Mary Matalin and James Carville and I don’t understand Fred and Margaret either. Love is blind, among other things....
I am currently dating a San Fran liberal, and she is truly wonderful. I am slowly showing her the light, though (she says I am very persuasive). She already thinks Algore is a joke, and she did a speech in one of her college classes lampooning global warming. Fortunately, she is going to Boise State which isn't too liberal, otherwise she would have gotten an "F". :)
Anyway, my point is that a true-blue (red?) conservative like myself can date a lib. It happens.
Yeah, I know. I tried that several years ago, and it was like sticking pins in my eyes. Ugh.
Good for you! Delighted to hear that you’ve showed her the path to a happy and fulfilling life!
“It’s a joke all over Washington that Margaret has a huge crush on him. And Fred clearly is not interested.” Mee-ow! At the time, Carlson refused to comment, but Thompson, clearly unhappy with Kehn’s outburst, issued a terse statement to The Washington Post. “I don’t generally comment on these matters,” he said. “But as it relates to statements made about my friend Margaret Carlson, there’s not a bit of truth to them. I should be so lucky.” Thompson married Kehn in 2002, and they now have two young kids. Apparently Carlson, who is now a columnist for Bloomberg News, still likes Thompson, in spite of the dustup. Carlson, who did not respond to an e-mail from Newsweek inquiring about the matter, was spotted on “Hardball” with Chris Matthews last week, swooning over a potential Thompson candidacy. “He’s handsome, he’s charming, he sounds like a president-. He’s smart, he’s articulate, he knows his line, he can hit his mark,””
