AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2286) [Remember the Trade Center!!]

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who seek to do her harm!!

It is interesting what the span of a couple of generations will do to a party that espoused such a simple but powerful dictum. It would seem the new mantra is:,P.

Education? Let's ensure poor and minority students are provided programs that ensure these folks are stuck in the program. They are afraid of actually constructing a process that would work. They are afraid of success.

Fiscal Policy? Let's ensure we set up a tax code that will make it difficult, if not impossible, to actually move up the financial ladder. But don't forget to demogouge the rich in the process so folks will forget it's an income, not an asset, tax. After all, we can't have the poor actually succeeding financially. They are afraid of success.

Health Care? Let's set up a process whereby the state will allocate the provision of health care to all of society. If this means that cutting-edge solutions to medical problems cannot be realized anymore, or that people die waiting for critical procedures in the name of fairness, that doesn't matter. After all, we cannot have the sick succeed in living, can we. They are afraid of success.

Abortion? A woman needs to choose to be irresponsible and not accept the consequences of her action. A man need not be held accountable for his part in the process. Let's snuff out the possibility that a child could be born that would provide solutions to countless issues in socity. They are afraid of success.

Foreign Policy? The United States should be the most liked country in the world. Never mind that we end up the world's door mat, and garner no respect in the process. That would provide success down the road to American entrepenuers and secure the blessings of liberty for us and our posterity. Nope, cannot have that. They are afraid of success.

War? A guerrilla war such as that being waged in Iraq requires patience, and above all courage to maintain the effort for the long haul. Yesterday, it would seem, the Democrats decided it was no longer worth the effort to see the conflict through to a desireable conlusion. They are afraid of success.

The willingness of an individual or a group to willingly undermine the success capability of a Nation is well defined in the dictionary, as well as the Constitution--it is called Treason. Treason is the overt act of providing the Nation's enemy aid and comfort in time of conflict.

This simply means that in wartime, there is no option to decide in favor of a fear of success. Success is the only option open for debate. The discussion need go no further than the processes for achieving the desired outcome--success.

That all changed in the last generation. The generation that changed the FDR maxim. This was the "better red than dead" crowd, the folks that cheered on Jane Fonda as she made out with a North Vietnamese--that was the enemy for the historically challenged--AAA cannon. Rather than be held to account for handing the enemy a propaganda victory (if there was ever "aid" to the enemy, this is it!), she has instead been allowed by Hollywood to have a successful acting career.

So, the mold of FDR was broken, so let's go for broke. After all, the "better red than dead" crowd suffered a severe problem as the result of President Reagan--the "red" itself died with the passing of the Soviet Union.

No matter, the modern Communists, who insist upon calling themselves Democrats, have made a silent, unwritten pact to carry on the works of Lennin, Stalin, Malenkov, Krushchev, Brezhnev, Andopov, and Chernenko (Gorbachev is totally out of favor with them as he caused the death of the Holy Land). These people continue to seek the destruction of America, the ruin of the land they allegedly call home.

Before Jane Fonda, the likes of this sort of individual would be called out, hauled up, and dealt with in an appropriate manner. Now the cancer of treason is allowed to fester. The malignancy is such that it is now reaching to some of the highest points in the land.

Fortunately, for this instance, the Founding Fathers provide us a remedy, one that will surely be used to prevent the traitors from carrying the day--the Presidential veto. We must understand, however, there may come a day when the traitors will own not only the branch of Government that writes National policy in the form of legislation, but the branch that is responsible for carrying out these policies--the Executive.

Moreover, it should be the duty of America to revive that quaint notion that the only option in time of war is success, and that anything short of that is treason, and should be tried accordingly. There should be no reasonable person that should allow such behavior to go on, particularly in public office.

You are welcome. The ‘alternative’ commencement had hundreds of people turn out (they were expecting thousands.) I watched the news last night and the newsreporter was breathlessly announcing that the attendance had exceeded their expectations (6,000 were expected.) Then the camera pans around the events center and it was practically empty. It was after 10 pm here and Ralph Nader was prattling on still. The ‘alternative’ commencement started at 7:30 pm and was quite the Bush bash fest.

I’m looking forward to talking to my niece’s husband who graduated from BYU yesterday and attended the commencement ceremony. The crowd of 20,000 was very appreciatvie of Cheney’s remarks. He gave them good advice, such as failing in some areas does not mean you are a failure in life. He gave the example of his experience at Yale.

I've got a situation here I need to bounce off people I trust - that means you all, collectively.

Please help me if you think you have any experience or thoughts to contribute to this. All ATRWer comments are solicited and welcomed.

Setup:
My 10yo daughter is in 4th grade. I have sole custody, though I try hard to work with her mom on critical decisions. For historical reasons, daughter is in Catholic school which resides in a school district that is NOT in the same school district our home is in. The closest Catholic high schools are 50 miles away. So, sometime in the future, she will be changing to the public school system, in the school district in which I reside, and that will result in a COMPLETE change of her social circle - much like moving - as in addition we'll probably be changing the church we regularly attend for the most part when I make the move, at least gradually, to the church associated with the "new" school district.

She makes friends rather easily right now, and has pretty decent self-confidence. She was rather blase about my tentative exploration with her about changing schools... but it might just have been bravado, or her "saying what dad wants to hear", I realize.

Present school district: 6-8th grade jr high.
My school district: 7-9th grade jr high.

Present Catholic school: up to 8th grade, if they can manage to muster sufficient attendance, which they did not this year ...
Possible Catholic school in My school district: up to 6th grade... good 5th/6th socially according to reports.

For both her mom and me, whenever we change to My school district, it will be much less convenient for us... and that is reason I didn't change earlier... but can't wait much longer. Of course, her mom's solution is that I sell my house and change school districts, which is not realistic financially - and mom is in extreme opposition now that I've made it clear this change is in the wings some time. However, I believe the important factor here is not my convenience, or hers, but rather our daughter's welfare.

Up until yesterday, I was agonizing whether, 1) make the change next year, for 5th grade, so as to give her some "transition" time and so she would have at least a small circle of friends from Catholic school when she gets thrown into the "new" public jr. high school, or, 2a) sticking it out at this Catholic school until at 8th or 9th grade, depending on how long we the present Catholic school had viable classes.

Meeting with her present school teachers (very supportive of ME making best decision for her despite their attendance situation) led me to the realization that I was ignoring the REAL, much better, second alternative: 2b) Place her in the 'new' jr.high at the start of 7th grade, when all students would be starting in the bigger fish pond and forming new friendships.

So I'm now agonizing over "5th or 7th" and would love to hear opinions from anybody here ... would it be better to make:

Two "milder" transitions (Catholic> Catholic 5th no existing friends> public 7th with some friends),
One "huge" transition (Catholic> public 7th with no existing friends)

She has been very sheltered from the coarseness of life she's going to discover when she goes to the public system- much more, I think, than most Catholic children in her school, as we listen almost exclusively to evangelical Christian radio, and have only genteel, solid, practicing Christian, friends. I'm taking the day off to try to talk to some folks from the jr.high to get their read... I've already done sufficient work to be very satisfied that the Catholic 5th would work out well either way.

What are thoughts, especially regarding the 'new friendship forming' part of this 5th vs. 7th?

I have to make the decision very soon, like by Tuesday, I think, and will spend a lot of time here discussing this with you unless it is deemed too much for the thread... And I will appreciate any bandwidth and thinking you will lend me, whether on thread so others can join in the discussion or by FReepmail. Yeah ... got it... we had our first big, specific, human sexuality talk over six months ago - and I’ve always such worked things into conversation slowly and consistently, and she’s pretty open with me. I’ve also been consistent about discussing peer pressure and peer pressure groups and dealing with that, too, with sex, drugs, etc... However, I know that I don’t know half of what I ought to know being that 1) I’m a barbarian man, and have no experience with even being a girly-man, 2) I never cared much what my “peers” thought about me while I was growing up and didn’t get involved in any of the “teen culture”, 3) I’ve never had a girl child to raise. So, I need much help and advice on those aspects... again, I suspect that argues for the 2-mild-change scenerio, but I’m open to the other possibility.

... really running now, but will mention that instead of breaking up the cat fight, I took pictures... they both looked pretty silly with wads of each other’s fur in their mouths, posturing with wagging tails.

...you all can carry on about this in my absence and let me know later what you all decided.
