Snoop Dogg banned from Australia

Snoop Dogg was also recently denied a UK visa

Rapper Snoop Dogg has been banned from entering Australia after failing a character test, according to officials. The star - real name Calvin Broadus - was due to co-host the MTV Australian Video Music Awards on Sunday.

The 35-year-old had his visa cancelled after recently pleading no contest to gun and drug charges in the US.

"He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country," Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews told Sydney's Macquarie Radio.

Incidents

"This man has been a member of a Los Angeles gang, and is still associated with it apparently, that's been involved in murder, robberies and drug dealing in the LA area," Mr Andrews added.

Back in February, when Mr Broadus last visited Australia, immigration officials warned him then that he could face a ban if he got into anymore trouble.

The rapper now has 28 days to protest the decision.

Donald Etra, the rapper's Los Angeles-based lawyer, said he had not heard from his client about the visa cancellation and could not comment.

Snoop Dogg was forced to pull out of his UK tour with P Diddy

The decision follows a string of incidents that Mr Broadus has been involved in over the past year.

He was recently given five years probation and 800 hours of community service in the US after pleading no contest to gun and drug charges.

And last month he was forced to scrap his UK tour with fellow rapper P Diddy after authorities denied him a visa.

On a previous visit to the UK, the rapper and members of his entourage spent a night in jail after being accused of starting a fight at Heathrow Airport.

He was also held overnight by police in Sweden on suspicion of using drugs.

Man I reallly miss The Motown Sound.............

"Bring over some of your old Motown records,
Put the speakers in the window and we'll go
On the roof and listen to the Mircles
Echo to the alley down below..."

Sorry but this doesn’t smell right. You don’t need visas to visit the UK or Australia. There are about 15 countries with the visa waiver program in place. Have Passport, will Travel.

Sounds like a plan to me. Not sure of his swimming credentials, but that shouldn't be a factor.

Did the article mention an awards show or something? Probably needed a work visa.

I think that there would be a HUGE market out there for some real music, like they used to make in Motown. Songs about love and fun and summer and friends and having a good time, Not hate and racism and killing and raping and drugs. The Generation of Free Love has brought us nothing but wholesale HATE................

US citizens most certainly do need a visa to enter the UK and Australia. With both countries it's very easy for most folks to get that visa...it's pretty much automatic. However,if you're an "undesirable" (my word) both countries have the right to,and *will*,exclude you from entering.

Same goes for British and Australian citizens wishing to enter the US.

And you are most certainly wrong about that.

Do I Need A UK Visa?

Now, apparently Australia does require visas of US citizens. But there is an ETA for 20 aussie dollars (Electronic Tranist Authority) so it's not technically a visa stamp in the passport but close enough.

ETA requirements

US citizens most certainly do need a visa to enter the UK and Australia. And you are most certainly wrong about that.

Although it may be technically incorrect to do so,I'm using the word "visa" to be roughly synonymous with the phrase "leave to enter".

For example....in most cases a US citizen wishing to visit the United Kingdom for the purposes of tourism for, say, two weeks doesn't need to have anything stamped in his passport saying he has permission to enter the UK when he leaves the US.The same,I believe,is true of UK citizens wishing to enter the US under the same circumstances.*However*,if that foreign national arrives at an immigration checkpoint in,say,New York or London and is deemed by the Immigration Officer to be "unfit" to enter, that foreign national *will* be denied entry and placed on the next flight to the country where his trip originated (I know...it almost happened to me in South Africa).

So,anyone who might suggest that Snoop Dogg might have some kind of inalienable right to enter Australia (and I don't know if *you* did so) is absolutely incorrect...regardless of what stamp Mr Dogg may or may not have in his passport.
