When a dog is looking a little down in the mouth the traditional remedy is to take it for a walk.
But the makers of Prozac reckon some dogs are so depressed they need to be medicated to get them through the day.
They have now launched a special canine version of Prozac on the pet market which comes in a chewable form and tasty beef flavour.

Next they will be provided handguns.
I take the prozac and don’t care how my dog feels... the taste sucks... but what the heck!
I liked the chicken better.
Take the beast for a walk or a car ride. Throw a stick. If all else fails, buy it some beef jerky.
Sam, scoffing at the concept, volunteers to cure the dog for her, pantomimes taking the dog by the leash into a back room, closes the door, then starts beating the dog with the leash screaming, in that inimitable voice of his:
Then goes out an collects his fee.
You kinda had to be there, but it was hilarious.
In light of recent horrific events, it might seem harsh, but whenever I hear "Grief Counselors" mentioned in the news, I think of Sam Kinison.
Doggie dope fiend ping!
My dog, on the other hand, needs Ritalin.
I bet they have it :~)
Oh my! As if the poor dogs understand what’s killing them. I think it’s the pet owners who need the Prozac!
About what?!!! Bad hair day?... Their stock options?... Mortgage payments?
Good grief. In the words of Father Guido, "All they do is sleep and eat."
Anyone remember the Saturday Night Live routine about “Doggy Downers” and “Puppy Uppers”?
LOL, mine too. I have Boxers. I don’t think it is possible for Boxers to be depressed. My male likes to pick up socks, fling them across the room and chase them himself. He can entertain himself for hours that way.
We have to give our dog valium before we take her in to get her nails trimmed. She is quite delicate when it comes to anyone touching her paws.
Start by just turning it on and giving her a treat.
Start with just ONE nail at a time. I started with the front dewclaw (on my dog that still has them). I just touched the Dremel to the claw, then gave a treat and shut down for the day. It took days, but now my dog just sits there while I grind down her nails.
The Dremel is better than the scissor-type clippers because it doesn't crush the nail, which hurts the quick.
I don’t think this is really for depression in dogs, but is being used for anxiety and OCD. I haven’t ever used it, but some dogs will actually injure themselves with obsessive licking, etc. While I agree that in many cases training, exercise, etc might help, anything that keeps a dog in it’s home, rather than being given up to a shelter or worse, is a good thing.
susie
I don’t think she would do any better. We had to put a cream in between her toes because she was gnawing them raw. Allergy to chicken we realized. But just putting the cream on she freaked, even when we were trying to distract her with bits of steak. She won’t even let me rub her little paws. She gently removes her paw from my hand and then licks my hand, LOL.
I think a better remedy would be to get all scritchy spots workin' and a good twenty minute bout of rough housing or tug' o war.
