She lives in San Francisco so the politics seems to go with the territory, she is however very knowledgeable on this subject so I ignore her politics. Sometimes things transend politics....
Actually, I felt in a round-about way she got her licks in at Rosie for saying what she said on the View.
I disagree....dogs and cats of conservatives liberals and in-betweens are duing. We need to get the chip off our shoulders over this and look at the facts. This article was very well researched and lays out the facts.

Thanks for the ping. I’ll send the article on to my pet-loving, government-fearing friends. :)
Another good reason why my guys get fresh deer and chicken necks and backs.
I did read in another article that Nutro has decided to bring their manufacturing plant back into the USA and either purchase or build a facility.
Are you a pet owner?
Before I get flamed--I have three toy breed dogs I was feeding the same food that was recalled (Nutro Ultra canned). Paid big bucks for them to have blood tests to make sure they are ok (they are so far)
It's just that I think that the ones that yell the loudest blaming the govt are usually the ones that want MORE govt control over our lives.
Why wasn't there a non-govt agency or assoc that could have set up the information to be gotten out there to the public? I agree it was handled wrong. But like I said before, I will turn into a Bush bash.
Hey, Cal? What say you on this whole situation?
I’m not around as much as usual these days, so if I missed your input elsewhere, just link me. Thanks!
Don’t go there.... that dog won’t hunt. I actually think she was chastising Rosie at the end.... but that wasn’t why I said read to the end, there is a lot of info here not in the news.
good for you! My dogs eat a raw diet, too.
I would imagine the fact that the production of Menu Foods is in Canada is because US regulations are stricter.
Ooops, IT will turn into a Bush bash.
They are and they aren’t. FDA allows them to rearrange the ingredients on the bag — not in order of largest quantity first (as in human labeling) and allows them to use 3D meats in processing. AAFCO which controls pet food is a farce.
Yes indeed. I have a ten-year-old Great Dane that is treated better than most people.
Well, I certainly wouldn’t consider this a political issue then.
I dont't know if that is the reason for all these dog food brands use Menu to producte the pet food, but I know I was shocked that the brands I was buying--and I've tried many high end brands for my spoiled girls--that they all were produced at Menu. Amazing.
Well unfortunately I guess it is necessary for more government intervention since it is a safety issue. It’s a shame that food manufactureres can’t be trusted to put out a safe product.
I thought the whole point of conservatism is government doesn’t work. How will creating a whole new expensive, cumbersome bureaucracy keep something like this from happening again.
This whole situation is utterly disgusting. Vets tell us not to feed our pets table scraps and that things like Science Diet are best but they are liars.
And really, the whole thing with Rosie O’Donnel in the article, disgusting too. Instead of blaming the government, how about placing the blame where it belongs, the media is supposed to inform us. But they’re too busy trying to convince us every day firings of AG’s are a huge scandal. Or trying to get us to worship Holy Mo so the Muzzies will settle down. Or that this year will again, just like last year, be the worst hurricane season either.
