I'm starting on it this weekend. From what I have read, it is the best drug for smoking cessation support. The literature on Chantix is very encouraging. How about Laser Therapy? My brother quit smoking after a couple of laser treatments.
Good luck to both of you. If you can just make it to a month it becomes much easier to handle.

One of my friends went the hypnosis route last year in July. He hasn't smoked since. I just quit by throwing my cigs in the trash and never spent another cent for them.
COLD TURKEY is the best way to quit.
My neighbor used Chantix and quit smoking after 3 weeks. He didn't stay quit, though.
I'm getting ready to start my 6th week. Keep in mind that the first week is half the dose. I smoked the entire first week, but haven't smoked since.
It didn't take away the craving, but it certainly takes the edge off.
Wife and I did the patch. I was down to so little before I quit that I needed just the #3 for 2 weeks and done. She went the full course and used stir sticks to suck on for the mouth thing.
It's going on a year now and only once was I tempted. I was drinking some beers on the Beach in Honduras. It was Dec 18 and it was 85 degrees and a comfy breeze was blowing. A friend lit up...I almost asked for one. I got through it though.
If you can avoid coffee/stimulants/acids/sugars/fruits, for a week, and take a very long walk as soon as you open your eyes, followed by a rigorous swim, a week off of work, and a complete avoidance of any old habits that might trigger cravings, quitting will be easier.
My wife began using this drug back on Feb. 21. She had her last cigarette on the 24th.
She has not had one since. I think the first week was hardest for her, but it's a LOT better now.
I am so proud of her!
My sis is on it, says it's working good.
Did anyone buy the Chantix from Canada?
A FReeper friend who’s on vacation now started it in November and other than one minor relapse (after her husband died), has been smoke-free ever since.
I read about Chantix first at FR. Did lots more reading and went to my doctor to get a script. First, got the physical with all the blood work. Two weeks later, results came back great and got my rx.
Tried Chantix and after three weeks gave it up because of the side effects. Four days later came across whyquit.com. I have no idea why or how I ended up at that website, but it made all he difference in the world to me. I quit two days into reading that website.
I think the key was having the needed information to help put quitting into perspective. How long are the cravings? How many per day? What’s the difference b/t a craving and a trigger? How do you break triggers? How long is the nicotine in my body after I quit? What are the side effects of quitting and how do i handle it? What are the effects of alcohol, caffeine, and stress upon nicotine and smoking?
Quit cold turkey. No Chantix, no NRTs, no gum, no mints, no tricks.
Smoked for 32 years! Was at 2 packs per day on the weekdays and 3 packs on weekends when I'd ride my Harley and pop open a few (or more)beers.
Current Quit Stats for me...
5 days, 19 hours, 52 minutes Cold Turkey QUIT!
244 nicotine delivery devices not smoked
saving USD$ 45.75
Life saved: 22 hours, 22 minutes
I still drink coffee and beer, but I do not smoke. Not one single puff.
My new Motto?
NEVER TAKE ANOTHER PUFF
Best wishes!
I really hope this helps someone else break the nicotine addiction.
Just started week 5, my smoking is way down. I just had 1 today.
I quit last September using Chantex. I was very impressed.
I smoked for 19 years and had tried everything on the market to quit. My wife and I went on Chantex last September 15 with the predetermined quit date set at September 22. You actually keep smoking while it builds up in your system the first week.
What I started to notice towards the end of that week was that I was no longer feeling different whether I smoked or not. I wasn’t getting nicotine anxiety. When we officially quit on the 22nd the first thing I noticed was when I was craving it was based on the habit and not a need for nicotine. And since I knew that if I did smoke it would make no change (Chantex blocks the nicotene receptors) I just didn’t bother.
The side effects weren’t too bad. For me it was a change in my dreams (they got really wierd for a while) and my skin was a little more sensitive (I’d get itchy). Neither were bad enough to stop me from taking the drug.
At any rate good luck quitting and Chantex worked for me so if you are going to go on it I hope you have the same result.
My boss used it and she hasn’t smoked since February. She did have some weight gain.
