I'm starting on it this weekend. From what I have read, it is the best drug for smoking cessation support. The literature on Chantix is very encouraging. How about Laser Therapy? My brother quit smoking after a couple of laser treatments.
I tried it but it kept cutting my cigarettes in two. Now I just use a Bic lighter.

Thanks for the input. I thought my week stay in the hospital last month for pneumonia and no smoking for a week would have made me quit - especially the severe anxiety during the ct scan wondering if it was cancer. But nooooo, I made it until Sunday morning then started pulling on my hair out - so I started back up - seems like with a vengeance. Anyway, my doctor gave the Chantix and my "quit day is Sunday", so we'll see.
Also, may sound crazy, but that week I was in the hospital, something happened to my attitude as well. I have the outlook of "I'm gonna do what I need to do, and everyone else needs to get with the program". I've told my boss off 3 times when he snapped at me, and I've given my husband the option of either drinking everyday or finding a new place to live. My kids don't like that they are now completely on their own with their laundry. But you know what, it feels good to finally be able to stand up for myself without feeling guilty about hurting anyones feelings. I guess it takes wondering if you're gonna die to put things in perspective. I've let too many people walk all over me for far too long because that's just my nature - take care of everything and everybody. Not anymore - I've even told my mom "no" when she's called needing this or that.
Guess I've figured out it's time to take better care of me instead of running myself down all the time. I sure hope I can quit smoking too.
