Thread Number Two
The purchase of the 'Cracker' boat, all of Shane Gibson's cell phone messages when ANS was in California, Dr. Kris and her more than generous script requests -- sure makes me jump to conclusions.
Yah, Alice in Wonderland.......
I wish more of the Thompson underware were out of the drawer and out for public airing.
One question..If Anna and Howie really thought that Horizons belonged to them, then why were they "refurbishing" another house on the island? Rental property?
I just don't know what to think anymore! All I feel right now is complete disgust. I'll try to hold back and stay informed, but I'm worried I may feel the need to curse and call these people names! I don't want to get banned on FR! lol!
What has happened here??
Seidlein did the right thing and set him up at the same time.
I wish we had the transcript of that Court. I'd like to see at what point Perper called him.
What has happened????
All I know is that it was announced Opri and Birkhead have parted ways. Then they said the hearing was pushed back to 2:30 PM Eastern. Seems like the wheels started falling of the thread at that point??
Misery loves Company so was trying for GROUP therapy - can't handle this collapse alone.
Wondering about poor little Dannielyn - her future is in total jeopardy....and we are just helpless bystanders.. that is so depressing.
I don't believe Anna wrote this. Does she really know how to use a colon (not that kind of colon! The punctuation kind). Yet there's no apostrophe in "won't". The "ruint" seems staged. And she'd probably spell "a lot" as alot. And in some way the whole thing appears to me to have been written by someone pretending to be her.
Larry fired Opri. Opri says he wanted her to do something unethical. Speculation is that Larry is making a deal with the Stern camp because they were calling LB constantly and Opri told them to stop.
Why would the thread fall apart because of that?
The impact of Gibson's candidacy
OSWALD BROWN
While the rest of the former colonies of Great Britain in the West Indies are basking in the glow of the worldwide publicity generated by ICC Cricket World Cup 2007, The Bahamas likewise continues to receive just as much or more free publicity from the international attention being given to the Anna Nicole Smith affair.
That's where the comparison stops, however. What is currently happening across the Caribbean is one of those rare historic occasions that will indelibly implant pleasant memories in the minds of those who are lucky enough to see one of the matches of the ninth ICC Cricket World Cup in one of the eight venues across the Caribbean where they are being hosted or broadcast live on television in the various countries of the participating teams.
According to a press release from the organizers of the Cricket World Cup, the opening ceremony, held in the brand-new Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, on March 11, was shown around the world and "beamed live around the Caribbean to an audience of millions."
In all likelihood, many of these same viewers have been keeping up-to-date, via television, on the Anna Nicole Smith affair. Those who are following this soap opera must have scratched their heads in disbelief on hearing news reports that former Immigra-tion Minister Shane Gibson phoned Anna Nicole Smith seven times while she was in California between December 15 and 17, leaving messages on six occasions. To be sure, his "Hi, Anna, Shane here" introduction to those messages must have reinforced in their minds what clearly was implied by those photographs splashed across the pages of The Tribune showing Gibson and Anna Nicole embracing in bed that subsequently led to Gibson's resignation as Immigration Minister.
They will be totally bowled over and left in a state of shock when it is officially announced that Gibson has been nominated by the PLP to run in the next election and that news is carried around the world, as it most certainly will be, indeed, the international media will still be focusing a great deal of attention on The Bahamas when that announcement is made, possibly as early as next week, as a result of their interest in the pending ruling by the Supreme Court as to who is the rightful owner of the mansion that Anna Nicole claimed was a gift from former lover G. Ben Thompson.
What's more, there is even greater interest by the international media in the scheduled March 25 coroner's inquest into the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel last September, which is now the focus of widespread speculation on American television that Daniel may have died under suspicious circumstances. This shocking possibility gained some credibility earlier this week when a private investigator claimed on one show that Daniel had sought his assistance to investigate the overbearing influence Howard K. Stern, his mother's lawyer, had over Anna Nicole.
With the international media having such a strong presence in the country leading up to the next general election, Gibson's participation as a candidate unquestionably will result in an avalanche of bad publicity for The Bahamas. The American media, which has devoted more air time to the Anna Nicole Smith story than any other story in possibly decades, already routinely uses "disgraced" as an adjective when referring to Shane Gibson, and the fact that he will be seeking re-election will be fodder for a raft of negative stories about The Bahamas, our political system, and the manner in which our Government operates.
They, of course, will not focus their criticism as they should on the current Government, but will give the impression that this is how politics is routinely conducted in The Bahamas. Unquestion-ably, the vast majority of Bahamians will disagree with this blanket perception of politics in this country, in the same manner that they were outraged back in the 1980s when the international media proclaimed that The Bahamas was a "nation for sale" because certain members in the then Government made it easy for South American drug lords to use The Bahamas as a conduit for smuggling their merchandise into the United States.
It is absolutely unfortunate that Prime Minister Perry Christie, who has the power to prevent this country's good name from once again being dragged through the mud internationally, has allowed political expediency to convince him to sanction such a drastic mistake, assuming that this is the reason why he is supporting Shane Gibson's candidacy. In no other country in the world that uses the Westminster model of governance would the leader of the party in power in this case, Prime Minister Christie allow himself or herself to knowingly be manipulated into making such a bad decision.
Granted, before he became inextricably entangled in the web of controversy that mushroomed into an international scandal after he reportedly fast-tracked Anna Nicole Smith's application for permanent residency in The Bahamas, Gibson was considered to be one of the best ministers in Prime Minister Christie's cabinet. What's more, he was extremely popular and maintained strong support in his Golden Gates constituency. Indeed, reports are that he still has tremendous support among his constituents and would possibly be successful in his re-election bid.
But the question that looms large and demands an answer from the Prime Minister is this: At what price should partisan politics be placed ahead of the welfare of this country?
It is important for the Prime Minister to keep in mind that as the leader of this country, he has more to lose than Gibson or the PLP in general when the international press begins to focus on Gibson's nomination to run in the next election. The American media in particular will be unrelenting in pursuing answers for how and why the decision was reached for Gibson to remain active in politics after being forced to resign from the Cabinet over the Anna Nicole Smith affair.
One question that they would most likely want to ask the Prime Minister is this: Should Gibson be re-elected and the PLP wins the election, would he again be made a Minister? Actually, that's a very good question for every Bahamian voter to be asking.
Meanwhile, while Baham-ians brace for the flood of bad publicity on the horizon for The Bahamas if the PLP insists on running Gibson in the next election, those Caribbean countries with which The Bahamas shares a similar colonial history are showcasing to the world what they have to offer potential visitors through the positive publicity being provided by the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Long after the glow of the Cricket World Cup has subsided, however, there could very well be some ongoing benefits to the tourism industry of The Bahamas from the country being remembered as the place where Anna Nicole Smith chose to be buried. What the Prime Minister should obviously be concerned about, however, is the possibility that the legacy of this late former Playboy playmate could also indicate that she influenced the outcome of the general election held in The Bahamas in 2007.

I remember it that way too. The Shelleys were introduced to Anna at the Kentucky Derby by LB.
I don't know? It just seemed to slow down or something after that??
I am hoping we get more info today on what's going on. Nothing much surprises me about this case/cases anymore.
Hang in there mom4kittys.
Headline is what has happened with no reason given.
Opri announced it earlier this morning on the news.
And we are all speculating on the cause.
"Was money the issue? Opri was soliciting funds as can be seen in a picture on the front page of this blog. Opri stated more than once that she was spending her own money and would fight until the end for Larry."
Did you check out the home page?

What a mess!
Isn't it a bit suspicious that this partying of ways btwn LB and Opri happened to occur on the day of the court case?
Maybe this is a ploy of some kind.
