http://www.gohunter08.com I hear Rudy is going to pass on the New Hampshire debate in April. It's not surprising since Rudy's going to wear out his welcome very soon and start losing support when he actually has to explain his positions and what he stands for.
Tancredo | Paul | Brownback | Gingrich | Hagel | McCain | Allen | Hunter
ACU: | 99% | 83% | 95% | 90% | 86% | 83% | 92% | 92% |
CAGW: | 92% | 81% | 83% | 77% | 87% | 71% | 70%
NTU: | 78% | 89% | 77% | 79% | 76% | 77% | 72% | 63% |
Club For Growth: | 88% | 82% | 88% | 99% | 76% | 84% | 49%
Average: | 89% | 84% | 86% | 85% | 85% | 81% | 80% | 69% |
Pork Reduction | 89% | 100% | 0% |
Since Hunter seems to be a choice of many FReepers, consider the following:
American Conservative Union: 2005: 92%, 2004: 87%, Lifetime Score: 92%, That makes him tied for 120th place among active Congressmen in Lifetime Score
Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW): 109th: 71%, 108th: 51%, Lifetime: 70%, 2% below the Republican House Average Lifetime Score of 73%
National Taxpayers Union (NTU): 2005: 56%, 2004: 56%, Lifetime: 63%, 1% below the Republican House Average of 64%, Average of 130th place among Representatives.
Club For Growth: 2005: 49%, 187th place out of roughly 230 Republicans: Here are some of the more troubling votes: YES on No Child Left Behind, YES on Sarbanes-Oxley, YES on the 2003 Medicare Drug Benefit, YES on 2005 Highway Bill, YES on the 527 bill. Hunter also went 0 for 19 on the Flake anti-pork amendments. Despite being a member of the Republican Study Committee, Hunter frequently votes NO on their fiscally conservative annual budgets.
Wastewatcher, January 2006: "Buy America" Rips Off America Buy America provisions have been inserted into legislation, especially defense bills, for many years. Usually, such provisions are removed from the final version of the defense legislation. That happened late last year, when Senate leaders and administration officials convinced House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) to drop the provision from the fiscal 2006 Defense Authorization Act, which was then signed into law by President Bush. The Buy America clause would have blocked the Pentagon from buying military equipment from international companies that receive government subsidies. The removal of this language constitutes a victory for taxpayers and national security. More competition in Defense procurement can only result in better value for taxpayers and improved equipment for military personnel.
By my evaluation, Hunter is just another big government, big spending RINO. That's what lost us the House and Senate in 2006. Do we want to run another RINO for the White House, or do we want to return to the conservative roots that built this party?
ROFL!
Good one Reg.
So a 92 percent American Conservative Union rating translates to a description of a RINO??!! I don't think so.
Clever.
Sorry my FRiend. You are wacky if you are calling Duncan Hunter a Rino.
He's the one candidate the dems fear will pick up momentum.
Since he's from San Diego, home of Sea World, it would be more appropriate to have him on a Giant Turtle.
Next to him you could have Hillary on a Rabbit.
A 92% rating put him in 120th place among Republicans in Congress. 119 other Republicans rated above him. His failing is in being another big spender. The other three scores say all that needs to be said about his spending record. He even opposed all 19 of Jeff Flake's attempts to cut pork barrel projects. In my book that makes him a RINO--he's not committed to the traditional smaller government mantra of the Republican Party.
I see no fear on their part. Where's the proof?
You make no sense and you make yourself seem foolish by calling Hunter a RINO. Of course you've been here almost two weeks so as a Newbie or FNG we'll let it go.
Weighing everything, Duncan Hunter is still the best of the bunch.
Let's see what would you call someone who votes to increase non-defense discretionary spending more than any administration since LBJ? Someone who voted for NCLB, CFR, Sarbanes-Oxley, Medicare Part D, and hugely bloated agriculture and highway bills? Someone who voted to block every attempt to reduce pork barrel spending? Someone who voted to increase Department of Agriculture spending 12%, Department of Commerce spending 17.2%, Department of Education spending 67.9%, Department of Energy spending 28%, Department of HHS spending 26%, Department of Labor spending 33%, Department of Transportation spending 11%, and Foreign Aid spending 31%?
I'd call him a RINO.
Huh? Depressed over Keyes? Uh, no?
NOTA,
Would you prefer Romney,McCain or Guiliani?
Perhaps Hillary or Obama?
Compared to these four 'frontrunners', Hunter is fairly conservative. Calling him a RINO just makes you look foolish. Suspiciously foolish.
You seriously lack credibility, so please don't waste my time by replying.
four = five.
Romney was an afterthought.
Absolutely not. What I'd like is for the Republican Party to nominate someone who stands by the limited government, reduced federal spending traditions of the party. There are several in the list above that score higher in that regard than Hunter.
You seriously lack credibility,
Don't blame me if Hunter's record is that of a big spending, big government RINO. It's his voting record, and the scores posted above are from reputable organizations. All I'm doing is trying to help FReepers make intelligent, informed decisions about who to vote for.
Obviously you don't want your preconcieved opinions challanged and don't want to have to defend those opinions using rational measures of your candidates qualifications. That's no different than voting for the candidate with the best hair.
Mitt Romney Appoints Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio to Presidential Campaign
Wow. Joe Arpaio!
The Sheriff?
Oh. You mean Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the one that supported democrat Janet Neopolitan.
Nice try. RGBS.
Go back to DU. They're more gullible over there.
Oh, I see. Now Sheriff Joe, conservative folk hero, is not conservative enough either. Love it.
