HOUSTON -- A woman was bitten by a pit bull in southwest Houston on Thursday, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Houston police said the woman bent down to face level with the dog at its home on Dairy Brook Drive near Brookwulf Drive at about 4 p.m.
The woman was at a neighbor's home when the incident took place.
The dog bit the woman on the lips and face, officials said.
The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials have not said what, if anything, will happen to the dog.

How did she get into the dog's cage? The attack dog was in a cage wasn't it?

All pit bulls are loving sweethearts until they kill or maim someone.

Surprisingly, no moose were involved in the altercation.

Well, you never never never get on face level with a strange dog, sounds like she tried to give it a kissand uh, no Thomas pictures as that would justify the actions of the dog.

She got down into the dogs face. My vet tells me this is the reason small children are bitten so often. The dog feels threatened and it bites. Small children are right down on the dogs level, this woman did the same thing.

But this woman is a victim of her own stupidity or just plain ignorance.

Yes, most people don't know how to properly approach a dog, making eye contact and going to pet it and getting in it's face are all signs of aggression if you don't know the dog. These actions will get you a growl or a bite from many dogs, not just pit bulls.

Common sense. If you own an attack dog and don't have a legitimate need for it, keep it caged so innocent people and children don't get hurt. Otherwise take out a big insurance policy.

I have an agreement with my neighbor.
If he makes sure his pitbull stays in his fenced backyard, I will not accidentally blow its head off.

An attack dog is like a gun, if you keep it under lock and key you can never get to it in time if you need it.If the neighbor had a gun on the coffee table and the visitor picked it up and started fondeling it and it went off and wounded her would it be the guns fault?

Wrong, dog was in his territory, didn't bite till the stranger got in his face. That can be true of any dog, not just a pit bull.

Unless the woman was breaking and entering, the dog never should have been left out to attack her. If you want the dog to have it's own territory, put it in a cage. If you let someone in your house with your attack dog, or loaded weapons laying around, your responsible for your guest's safety. It not the gun or dog that kills people, it's the person in control of the gun or dog. If you don't have control of your attack dog, you will eventually lose control of your assets.

Children should be taught to fear all dogs at a very young age. That way when they grow up, they won't be dumb enough to ask, "how much is that doggie in the window".

I see you are of the nanny state persuasion. I posted this article to show how ignorant or stupid some people are about animals and others about guns. This is my home and my castle, when you enter, respect and understand, if you don't understand, ask questions.

No, I just have no use for loose dogs that are not in the control of their owners. I also have little use for people who think they have the communication skills of doctor Doolittle and pretend to know what their dogs are capable of.
