Maytag is looking for a new repair man!!!
On the other hand, there's me, with a Maytag washer that's 8 years old and has never needed a service call. I don't know which of us is typical, although past experience tells me that sometimes you get extraordinarily lucky or extraordinarily unlucky with a particular product. My brother had a car that was continually in the shop, while a friend of his with the identical model never had a single problem.
Anyone hear anything good about the front-loader Whirlpool Neptune? (It's a real manly washing machine- and I want one)
I've had a front loader since '98. Pretty good machine. Had one recall/service update and maybe one service call the whole time. Pretty pleased with it.
Or Zsa Zsa's husband...... he'd be a good one.
Sorry to hear about your KitchenAid dishwasher. I bought a new stainless steel lined quiet wash (a bit on the higher end) but love it. New KA frig too. Why don't you have KitchenAid give you a new one? They have a pretty good Customer Service. Worth a shot anyway. Good luck.
It says they will not pick a woman. I bet they get sued.

Just be sure it's a newly-designed machine.
FWIW, part of the mildew problem (which other front-loaders have also had) is because owners are too stupid to leave the door open so the tub and rubber sealing gasket can dry out between washings.
I love the front-loaders. They use less electricity, water, and soap, and get clothes cleaner. But they are pricey, and some have had problems.
We have had one for about seven years. We couldn't be happier with it. Maytag had to come once to replace the rubber ring inside the door (that was a free service).
It cleans very well and hardly needs any detergent.
That's the upside. The downside is that we may be the only people on earth happy with the machine.
They DID give me a new one . I bought the highest end stainless. Doesnt clean well and is serviced once every three months.
Gosh, sounds like we are at opposite ends of the curve. So many people recommended I buy KA and I did. You on the other hand have had such an opposite experience. It really is too bad. I've never had a better dishwasher and believe me I've had many.
Whaat keeps breaking that you have to have service every three months? I'd keep on them. You shouldn't have to go through this for a stupid dishwasher.

Everything.
the electronics, the pump you name it.

They have already replaced it once.
I am saving up for another. In the meantime I have bought their plan to repair it forever.
