February 13, 2007 2007, RIPARIAN

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

RIPARIAN

Pronunciation: ri-‘par-i-an
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin riparius -- more at RIVER

1) Relating to or living or located on the bank of a natural watercourse (as a river) or sometimes of a lake or a tidewater (riparian trees)

RIPARIAN RIGHT

Function: noun

1) A right (as access to or use of the shore, bed, and water) of one owning riparian land

Thought of all you frozen staters would like to be reminded that Spring will be here soon, and you'll be able to get those nice rainy days instead of this snow!

You're such a good neighbor, Gabz.

Years ago my doc said if you're feeling like you're coming down with a cold to boil a danged chicken and eat the chicken fat with some chicken. Maybe you gave Jax the Jewish cure.

You are in my prayers.

Okay, Cook. Back of the class and get a pair of handcuffs. No one knows which key goes to which key. You may be there for a while.

I'm sure you were great at the Rubic's cube, for which I threw against a wall.

Sue's my friend, Slip, she'd do the same for me and has, I don't think twice about that kind of stuff.

As for the Jewish cure, who knows, but I do know I added a good 8 ounces of chicken fat to that stock pot yesterday. I always save the fat when I'm cleaning most kinds of poultry to be put in the freezer, but especially chicken.

Home at last and cooking sausage and (gag!) sauerkraut for hubby-I will be having leftover ribs from Sunday and salad as I sit upwind of the kitchen table at the breakfast island-

I'm so tired of queen Hillary
And all her silly airs
I can't imagine who believes them
Or that anyone really cares

We know from whence she came
And it isn't from the upper crust
And her husband is a vulgar man
Who can't control his lust

Two crooked trailer trash lawyers
Who need to take a cruise
Back to some swamp and disappear
Back into the riparian ooze

So glad to hear xshub is home safe and sound.

We are apparently of the lucky, it's just raining at the moment, and expected to continue that way through the night and then clear off and dry out.
