February 13, 2007 2007, RIPARIAN

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

RIPARIAN

Pronunciation: ri-‘par-i-an
Function: adjective
Etymology: Latin riparius -- more at RIVER

1) Relating to or living or located on the bank of a natural watercourse (as a river) or sometimes of a lake or a tidewater (riparian trees)

RIPARIAN RIGHT

Function: noun

1) A right (as access to or use of the shore, bed, and water) of one owning riparian land

Thought of all you frozen staters would like to be reminded that Spring will be here soon, and you'll be able to get those nice rainy days instead of this snow!

I agree about her loading up, but the child was complaining about being starving and by the time we ate dinner she had been running around like normal for a couple of hours.

Be back in a bit, I've got to run to the pharmacy for Sue and the bank for the GS........

I wouldn't put my toe in the Ganges. And it's been that way for probably a few hundred years. People actually drink that water, too. Ugggghhhhh!

A++++ for you, Truthie!

Can't help you out there, m'dear.

I'm not worried about snow or ice, but I am concerned that all the rain we are supposed to be getting until Thursday is going to start causing some major flooding on the back roads. And "back roads" defines practically ALL roads in this county except for Rte 13.

You need a calendar just to know when to pick up the two younger xskids, you know, one of those 15-minute calendars. I'd be CRAZY!

We're getting eight to ten inches of light sun with rain at night. It's 63 degrees right now. I have to pull the shades because Simba and Monster Cat does not like a lot of sun coming through the window.

I'll be thinking of you tonight! I do miss ~some~ snow.

Cyber says to me, "Certain people I'm married to." I guess that would be plural, also, but I leave it alone to all y'alls.

I never worry about the Global Warming or Global Cooling. We're just in a cycle. It will be gone in a few years.
