The kid is probably a punk, but this might be a little bit of overkill in the "tough love" department. :)
Tatum was very messed up for a lot of years - no thanks in part to her dad Ryan- apparently he was alternately abusive, neglectful and insanely jealous of her career. Like a lot of other Hollywood kids, notably Drew Barrymore and Mackenzie Phillips, she was thrown into the spotlight much too young, fed to the wolves and left to fend for herself by her self absorbed parents. No wonder she found herself in a marriage with an equally self obsessed and allegedly abusive husband.
I think Tatum’s been clean and sober for quite some time now and has worked hard to become a good mother to her kids and come to terms with her demons.
Didn’t Farrah also allege physical abuse?
He should take up rapping. His conduct would make him some bling fo sho.

I read the story. Ryan O'Neal is innocent until proven guilty.
Tatum's book is a very interesting and realistic look into Hollywood family values. While I think Ryan O'Neill is one of American's best light comedians, he appears to be a monster off-stage. He has beaten his son Griffin, Redmond and subjected Tatum to his many sleazy affairs with woman. Now his poor wife has a serious form of cancer and what's his solution? Fight with his poor, pathetic, benighted son.
At least he doesn't have to say, "I'm sorry". LOL
He can go into rehab and all his sins will be forgiven.

I used to know the first wife who is the mother of Tatum and Griffin. The drug addiction he has/had is not a pretty thing.
I've never seen Farrah Fawfett allege abuse by Ryan O'Neal. She was battered by a producer named James Orr in 1998, whom she promptly walked out on. She and O'Neal remain in touch, becuase they have an adult child of their own (Griffin and Tatum's mother was the late Joanna Moore).
An angel he isn't. Could just have taken after dad.

It seems to me that there was another wife, or girlfriend who had a child with him. I believe it was either after breaking with J. Moore, or it was before. Her name was Leigh Taylor Young. I can't remember what the child, a boy, was named. I think his name was Ryan also.
