PUPPY RAMPAGE! BOB ATTACKED BY PACK OF KILLER PUPPIES!! Pictures of Me & My Puppy

Posted on 02/02/2007 5:25:14 PM PST by word_warrior_bob

I went to visit my puppy again today "Sonny" For those of you who didn't see his first pictures he's a Standard Poodle.

It seems he has a little Alpha-Male (like me) in him ven though he's the little guy. The breeder tells me he's the first one out the door when the puppies go out, and when the puppies got some meaty bones he took his and went to a corner, then another dog next to him had a bigger piece he "threw" his piece down next to the other puppy and took the big one out of his mouth! He then took his big piece into the crate and kept it private, he gave a little growl when anyone tried to take it and they backed off. I then went into the pen and took it out of his mouth, he pulled back the first time, but he let me take it the next 3 times and waited for me to give it back to him.

We spent a lot of time playing together, a nice thing happended when I got there. I took Sonny out of the pen and had him on my lap and his mommy came and started licking me, I turned him over and she licked his belly then licked me, they they both were licking my face, that was fun.

Sonny's going to be very active, he pulled a mat down and a cardboard box with toys came out, he was looking for all kinds of adventure, but followed me when I moved. He also came to me most every time I called him, I put my arms out and said "YAY" and he wagged his tail and pranced and ran to me.

We then let all the puppies out for a puppy free for all, this was great fun, all of the puppies running around jumping on me, teething on me everywhere, multiple face lickings, not quite the "harem" in my fantasies but a reasonable substitute! Every time I had a different bunch of puppies licking my face I was like, where's my guy? He would manage to appear, give my face a few good licks, then go back to exploring and playing with the other puppies.

I get to pick him up next Sunday the 11th, any area FRiends are welcome to come visit him.

Bob

Your puppy pictures are just adorable. His legs are already 'taller' than my Yorkie, lol.

Thanks for the ping HOTD!

Cute. I don't know why people don't like standard poodles. They're really cool (and smart!) dogs. I always wonder why anyone wants to *mix* them with other breeds instead of just getting a standard poodle. I think because they think oodle makes a cute suffix.
Good luck with your new baby!

They started mixing Standard Poodles for their great qualities. Mostly I think for the hair, Poodles don't shed and people allergic to dander can own them. They are rated either 1 or 2 in intelligence depending where you look, they are easily trainable and have a great disposition and love people which makes them great working dogs too, I would like to make the little guy a therapy dog.

Unfortunately, first generation mixes don't always get the best qualities of each breed, so you can easily not get the poodle coat (which is what most people want). As I said, I don't understand why they don't just get a poodle instead of paying a crazy price for what is, essentially, a mixed breed.
Silly people...
Enjoy your puppy!

I think if more people just gave their Poodles haircuts like my big guy on my homepage a LOT more people would have them. I know I was hesitant at first, all I could think of was me walking a prissy dog and everyone laughing at me and thinking I was a "swish".

I forgot to tell you I like your homepage even though I'm not too keen on touching a snake or being that close to a crocodile.

I'm going to spend the day at the American Museum Of Natural History tomorrow, I haven't been there since a class trip when I was a little guy. I'm very excited.

LOL (to the swish comment). I'm sure that's the problem with people (especially men) and poodles, but in a puppy cut they look like regular dogs. I do love the old fashioned poodle cut, which was not so pom pomy, and had a beard. Very cool.

As I remember my dog lore, Standard Poodles were bread as hunting dogs and were fearless. They were also very good around water. (I'm a Pices so water is very important to me, lol.)

What an absolutely beautiful dog.

I've never had much experience with standard poodles, just the tiny ones, and I'm not a big fan of them, to be honest.

Standard poodles are pretty cool dogs, from what I hear. Sturdy, brave and smart.

Good luck with your new pup, he's absolutely adorable.

Standards, mini's and toys are very different, the other ones are smart and good dogs but the Standard is the "Standard" that poodles are judged by.

I actually lumped poodles all into one pile way back when. Then I learned that a group of standards won the Ididarod race (several times, IIRC) and I gained new respect for the big dogs.

Just promise me, you won't shave him in that weird sort of nerf ball, pom pom on the tail cut. ;-)
