The ***OFFICIAL*** Weekend Singles' Thread -- Quotes (January 26th - 28th)
ilovew, rzeznikj at stout

Posted on 01/26/2007 4:05:02 PM PST by ilovew

It's quotes weekend! What are your favorite quotes? Some of my favorites:

"I see America, not in the setting sun of a black night of despair ahead of us, I see America in the crimson light of a rising sun fresh from the burning, creative hand of God. I see great days ahead, great days possible to men and women of will and vision." --Carl Sandburg

"It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either of them." --Mark Twain

"Friendship is certainly the finest balm for the pangs of disappointed love." --Jane Austen

Hi, Ilovew! Heard on The Dose that you were doing the thread this weekend, and had to come visit. My favorite quote, by my mom, whenever one of us kids was verbally tormenting our siblings: "Are you in mortal danger? Then just ignore them!"

The trouble with doing something right the first time is that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

I liked this one, and since I'm at work, and our motto is SUPPOSED to be 'do it right the first time', I've just printed out your quote and will leave it on my bosses desk. tee hee

Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.

-Daniel Webster

I should be a better man if I did what you advise, but I shouldn't be quite George Edward Challenger. There are plenty of better men, my dear, but only one G. E. C. So make the best of him.

- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, The Lost World

Hello, sweetie, signing in. Are you still in DC or was that internship only for 1 term?

" There's no such thing as a soul. It's just something they made up to scare kids, like the boogeyman or Michael Jackson." -Bart

BTW, one of my favorite episodes is when Bart sells his soul to Milhouse for a cool five bucks.

I recall the pix on your profile page. a sweetie - big poodle & you give that breed a good sales pitch. I have never know anyone wth one of those.

Is this a new one you are getting? for a companion &/or breeding?

My two dogs tend to attract men (if they dont scare them).. funny how a pet makes you more approachable or something like that.

how expensive are they in NJ? I know NJ tends to be expensive for a lot of things & pedigreed dogs tend to be expensive anyway.
