Some South Jersey Parents Upset About Award-Winning Diversity Video Being Shown In School
Millennium Radio New Jersey ^ | Thursday, January 25, 2007 | David Matthau

Some parents in a South Jersey school district are upset that 3rd graders were shown an award winning diversity video about families - that includes same-sex couples in the story.

The Evesham school district - along with several others around the State - is using a video, called "That's a Family" in their health classes.

John Zlock, a spokesman for the Jersey Department of Education, says each district makes its own decision about whether or not to use the video, but the States core curriculum content standards require "as early as grade 2, that children should be able to identify different kinds of families, and explain that families may differ for many reasons."

He says "it's important for children to learn just how diverse a family can be…and we all know that living in New Jersey, it's a very diverse State, and children should be able to have those discussions."

Steven Goldstein, the Chairman of the group Garden State Equality, says he's shocked that anyone would have a problem with this video, because it has won several awards and "it was shown at the White House in 2000- before educators and child advocates from across the country who praised the film."

He adds if people don't feel comfortable with having their kids see That's a Family, "maybe New Jersey is not the right place for them."

Several calls to the Evesham school district were not answered.

>>>And just who was President in 2000?

Don't forget, David Mixner was Clinton's gay advisor. David Mixner is from this state (NJ).

David Mixner also helped McGreevy with his book release.

David Mixner's activism groups comes up easily with search engine associates with gardenstateequality.org.

So, no surprise.

I wonder if this group Garden State Equality, is in any way linked to NAMBLA? Nothing would shock me anymore.......At least I hope it won't.

I saved the link. I just got too disgusted to keep reading them right now. I read so much and I just couldn't keep going. I do plan to get all info written up just in case I need to protest this film. My head hurts . The phone keeps ringing . I bet that principle hates my guts now too. ~~P~~

Just another one of many reasons to avoid living in NJ (even though the northern part of the state is beautiful)

Exhibit A as to why people home-school.

Government schools are meant to properly socialize your children--into a deviant lifestyle.

>>>Just another one of many reasons to avoid living in NJ (even though the northern part of the state is beautiful)

But that is exactly it. Everyone is parrotting, we should leave.

They want us to leave so they have no opposition to what they do.

And you know what? We still fund their insanity through Federal monies. So, if we leave, some of our federal tax dollars will still go to subsidize their disordered fetishes.

There has to be a way to fight this. Staying in NJ, we can. We just need to find someone that knows legal and is willing to do activism.

Maybe they want everyone that is not like them out because by next election, they won't be able to use the voter registration "legacy" system anymore. They were suppose to be switched over by last January; but they got the Superior Court to delay the system purge.

Maybe now that all the dead voters and phantom addresses will be purged, it may be pretty transparent by next election they are NOT the majority.

My daughter won't be watching that film.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Other children in the school will be seeing the film and discussing it among themselves. Your daughter WILL be associating with these other students. You can't "opt-out" of being in the company of the other students, who will have some influence over her that you will need to work overtime to undo.

Unless you have the option of private school or homeschool, your child is required by law to be in her government assigned indoctrination center. If you, or your daughter, do not cooperate with the government school bureaucrats, armed police will soon be at your door. ( Real bullets in those guns on the hip.)

Once in the school, the government will trash your and your daughter's First Amendment Right to free assembly. It will be the government bureaucrats who WILL tightly regulate with whom your daughter will associate. If she does not cooperate she will be punished. She will be associating with students who have seen the film.

Also...how a family is defined WILL have religious, cultural, and political consequences. By showing the film, the government WILL ESTABLISH the religious, cultural, and political belief of some of the students and parents, and will actively destroy, undermine, and subvert the religious, cultural, and political beliefs of others.

Remember also that this film is merely one of HUNDREDS of issues that are continually being fought over in the government schools. The fight is bitter, because it is impossible for the government school to take a neutral stand, and whichever side prevails wins a BIG prize. That prize is the hearts and minds of the next generation of voters.

Government schools are a freedom of conscience abomination!

Solution: Begin the process of privatizing universal K-12 education.

I'm open to ideas.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Remove your child from government school. It does 2 things:

1) It removes your child's funding allotment from the school. This hurts the school financially.

2) It saves your child from swimming in this moral filth every day.

If it comes down to it I am going to talk with my neighborhood parents about joint homeschooling

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Whoa!...Now that would be a financial hit for the school. That would be a lot of funding walking out the door!

The very best way to punish a government school is in their pocket book.

Ah!,,In Maryland, other parents are not permitted to home educate any children but their own. Hm?,,,,I bet they would get you on wheelchair access laws, fire laws, or some other zoning or bureaucratic ruling.

Good move. Then you have already dealt the government schools the biggest blow they can suffer.

Thank you for the informative post, which makes sense but has made my headache worse.....I realize that my child will be around children who will see it IF it is shown here. So far I have answered many calls and emails on this and the parents aren't for it......One parent expressed concern over the fact that if a child has 2 same sex parents this film will make them uncomfortable. Another pointed out she has problems with the group promoting the film. She said if it wasn't an openly gay group but a film made by a different group she might consider it . Not one parent I spoke with was willing to let their child see a film like this in the 2nd grade.....Another parent told me that children tend not to question and notice things like same sex marriages in the 2nd grade....Most parents expressed outrage that the school is involved in teaching what they feel is their right and duty. I don't know what the answer is, so far I have a year to go before it really concerns me. I guess I will have to talk to my child. I resent that I have to tell my child about this because if I don't somebody else will.......Maybe we tend to shelter our daughter in many ways.I wanted to let my child have a childhood and not be pushed into things like this . We don't believe that she needs to know about gay marriages at 7 years old. She knows some people are different and like each other but its not something we talk about regularly. I wish the school and govt would mind their own business on many things. Let NJ send their school police to my house and I will get a lawyer and fight it. I am sick of this BS. If need be she will be home schooled and I bet they have a big problem with that too.

Well maybe they could try it but if we decided to home school each on our own and then get together for somethings what can they do? Are they going to watch us from their cars?..... This group may think they can force this agenda of theirs on us but if we revolt what can they do? Take our children away? I don't think NJ will push it that far. So far it is NOT being shown here. I will be informed if it is and then I will gather all the angry parents up and take it from there....

The area down by the cedar rivers in south Jersey are really beautiful too. We keep an RV on a river down in New Gretna and we really love it there. You are close to the ocean but in the woods. NJ has many really nice places that people aren't aware of.

He adds if people don't feel comfortable with having their kids see That's a Family, "maybe New Jersey is not the right place for them."

New Jersey has been taken over by gay fascists, apparently. They're as tolerant as mullahs.
