Parcells retiring after four seasons in Dallas
Statement from Cowboys coach Bill Parcells
"I am retiring from coaching football. I want to thank Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones for their tremendous support over the last four years. Also, the players, my coaching staff and others in the support group who have done so much to help. Dallas is a great city and the Cowboys are an integral part of it. I am hopeful that they are able to go forward from here.
"I am in good health and feel lucky to have been able to coach in the NFL for an extended period of time. I leave the game and the NFL with nothing but good feelings and gratitude to all the players, coaches and other people that have assisted me in that regard."
Nope....Wade Wilson...but now, the buzz is Les Miles. LOL
Just pick a name. Any name. It will, no doubt, be on the "list".
Chris Peterson?? Oh my! ROFL (Boise St.)
(listening to ESPN radio)
By The Tuna no less.
Have a long and happy retirement, Bill! Best wishes to you.
LOL! If his after-game pressers are any indication, he wouldn't be too popular with his fellow commen-tators. He wouldn't tolerate the BS!
What's wrong with that? He coached Boise St. to an unbeaten season. The ONLY unbeaten team in the nation.
I adore Chris Peterson. And I can't imagine he would even consider coming into this can of worms called the Dallas Cowboys. But, I can't imagine ANY coach agreeing to work for JJ and T.O.
I can't think of a coach that would want to work with either of them. They're both attention seekers.
The Giants just hired the Eagles LB coach as defensive coordinator...
Yeah, now we can look forward to another round of Switzers, Gaileys and Campos.
Dallas probably did need a different coach but I don't trust Jerry to find one. Because of Parcells record and the fact he was available, even Jerry wasn't able to screw that up.
They also need someone in there who is really good with young QBs or even that will go down the drain.
This Cow fan can't stand TO - not just his arrogance, but lack of productivity. I've seen numbers showing that the only game he made a difference in was with Atlanta.
Actually with all those drops he made a difference in many games - the ones we lost.
REC 85 | YDS 1,180 | TD 13
His average is down a little from previous years, but he's not the only go-to guy on the Dallas offense. He adds alot of drama on the sidelines, but he's a productive player on the field.
Bellichick has not been back since Romeo and Charlie Weiss left. What is your point?
Plus Bellichick is an ass.
Sorry about the 'insane' comment.
That was wrong.
Fans get carried away. He suffered more than anyone, except maybe my son. Hope Carrie can take his mind off of it.
Bill would be hilarious on those shows, but it wouldn't work.
He's a slow talker with long pauses between words. When he did his pressers, everyone would go and hit their radio, thinking it had gone off before he finally spoke.
But I loved it.
Here's a crazy theory. The Cowboys released a statement that Parcells will stick around Valley Ranch for another 10 days and help out with the search process. Dallas might be wise to do some interviews, but wait until after the Super Bowl to decide, so that they can interview Bears coaches. one of the trendy names thrown out is Bears' D-Coordinator Ron Rivera, with a rumor of several teams interested in him. But if I were Dallas I'd ask to interview him AND Lovey Smith. Smith is from near Dallas, only has 1 year left on his contract, and has said before something to the effect of the Cowboys being a dream job (he grew up a Dallas fan.) Chicago would certainly want compensation, but they also run the risk of Smith refusing any extension offers and walking in a year if he does want to interview with Dallas and they deny him. Depends on how much the Bears value Rivera and if they consider him a high-quality head coaching prospect, but if they do they could let Lovey go, get compensation, and keep Rivera in house with a promotion to HC.
No one who leads the NFL in drops should be considered a "go-to guy".
I've seen those stats you posted, but unfortunately we have to rely on game commentators and columnists to learn about his drops statistics - they aren't included in the receivers' numbers but they are included in the QBs' completion percentage.
Jerry Jones wants Wade Phillips to be the Coach/Def Coordinator and have Jason Garret to be the QB coach and eventually the coach.
I would put even money on Jimmy Johnson coming back.
