GAINESVILLE - A would be home invader was shot and killed early Sunday morning in South Hall County.
Sheriff's Major Jeff Strickland said a man approached a home in the 4000 block of Winder Highway and when confronted by the homeowner fired several shots.
"The perpetrator fired several shots toward the homeowner ," Strickland said, "The homeowner was able to return fire, striking and killing the perpetrator."
Strickland said the homeowner will not face charges.
"Preliminary investigating shows the homeowner acted in self defense," Strickland said. "And not charges will be filed."
The homeowner was not injured in the incident.
I just love a happy ending...
I don't know the area, what is it like?
Is this a dream?
I love the way they always manage to sneak that in. Lets us know that the first and foremost priority is to press charges against the homeowner if after close analysis he is found to have done anything the least bit wrong. Never mind that no such attention is paid to the invader who fired shots. That's the only reason for being so blatant to say the homeowner will not face charges, when there is really no reason to say he isn't, when he isn't. See? It would be natural to say noting if he isn't, and say he is facing charges when he is. So in your face.
The invader shoots first, he's a lousy aim and then gets blown away by the armed homeowner who returns fire in self defense.
I'd have made sure the invader ;) shot first ;) too....another happy ending.
Hmm, so they bad guy was outside and the homeowner came to the door with a loaded gun? Well, if the LE is happy with that explaination then I suppose I'll have to be as well. I feel for the guy's mailman, paper boy and the local girl scouts.
I have alarm sensors around the perimeter of my home that tell me if anything moves in my yard at night. It's wired for cameras, so I can click on any of them and see what's lurking out there via my TV. At 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning, if it ain't wearing a girl scout uniform, it's a no bag limit.
He may have known that someone was out prowling... either via electronics, like what I have, or the four legged variety of alarm.

A dream come true. Perfect ending.
I don't reckon the guy's mailman, paperboy or local girl scouts come sculking about in a ski mask just after midnight and fire into the house from outside, which is how this followup article reads:

Looks like the homeowners are guilty of having a self defense weapon at hand within their home. I got a great idea, lets burn them at the stake.
If deja vu is the feeling that you've been there before, what do you call it when one of your dreams ends up happening to somebody else?
It looks like Winder Highway is in or near Oakwood. It could still be pretty rural, although more and more people are moving into that area and commuting to Atlanta.
Good for her! Let's hope Granddad is around for a long time, though! ;)
I don't know why ... I just do it ........... FRegards
