It is believed by some that the biblical story of Abraham being stopped by the angel of the Lord from sacrificing his son Isaac symbolizes the ending of human sacrifice by the ancient Hebrews.

Camels were not even domesticated until the middle of the 3d millenium B.C. (for their milk and meat). It was not trained to carry burdens until much later, and not trained to carry riders until the inverted "v" saddle was invented in the 1st millenium B.C. There is no evidence of domesticated camels in the 6th millenium B.C.
