"As I understand it from Jim, it would take a lot of work for them to make a commercial version and then there would be a lot of maintenance etc. etc. etc. And I'm not sure they want to bite off all that vs maintain FR well and let it go at that."
If Jim wants/needs the extra income, I'm sure people would be interested in licensing the software from Jim.

I suppose so, if and when it becomes worth it to them.
Certainly their product is way above any others I've seen or navigated.
But it would be a big leap in hassles and some risk in terms of return.

Author of an article, not the author of a post. For instance, a Thomas Sowell article may be posted by several different people under different titles, because the column is syndicated and different publishers choose their own titles.
