Thanks for a well-written and funny review. As Tom Lehrer said in the introduction to one of his songs, "I feel that if people cannot communicate, the least they can do is shut up."

This trend started with Diane Keaton, I'm sure if it, and before anyone rips into me, let me say I am sure she is a very nice woman and I am equally sure that my remarks will never matter in her world, so let me just have my little soapbox moment:

Heh. Ripped on FR for insulting a Hollyweird liberal? Not likely, unless maybe Borges is around. And he's too civilized to rip into you. Maybe a gentle chiding. :)

This is one film I certainly will not go to see. I have seen too many boring films. One exception is "Apocalypto" - just cannot forget it.

Jack Black, up until Nacho Libre, could do no wrong in my book. Even if the rest of the movie stunk, at least he was fun to watch. Since then it looks like he makes movies like this because his buds on the left make movies like this. I guess I'm supposed to take him seriously as an actor now.

I guess this is all I need to know about him anymore.

(((sigh)))

ughh watched this movie yesterday...it was 2 hours and 15 minutes--at least an hour too long. Watching the amazing Kate Winslet play air guitar is just too much to ask of the audience. What is with the movies and music? Over done, too loud and no more dancing around while singing to the cute music! Risky Business had the ultimate and should have been the last dancing by myself movie moment. The only one worse than Cameron drinking and dancing in The Holiday is possibly Hugh Grant twitching his booty to the Jump in Love Actually. It is just painful to watch.

The Holiday could have been so much more than two lonely women switching homes. The story went nowhere. I found myself getting ancy as half way thru Jack Black still had not appeared and I knew we would have to endure at least another hour of bringing him in and developing Ha! his story line.

This film would have benefited from some judicious editing.

For women, acting now consists of fidgeting, squirming, looking around, biting the lower lip, wringing the hands, playing e.n.d.l.e.s.s.l.y with their hair, sighing, and stammering

That's not just actresses, it's a good description of many real, live women these days, too. Seldom has an epoch been "blessed" with so many completely fake people.

Sheesh. Now I need a drink!

Near-perfect review, ma'am!

Good call on Diane Keaton. If you ever get time, look at Keaton's 1984 Little Drummer Girl. Keeping in mind the one dimensional Rachel Corrie, just fast forward to the 2006 Diane Keaton L'Oreal commercials.

It's all about the shekels, evidently.

Then there's apparently a steady market for Christmastime Slasher movies.

THIS HOLIDAY SEASON THE SLAY RIDE BEGINS

Still from "The Hitcher" (look! she's dithering!)
