ughh watched this movie yesterday...it was 2 hours and 15 minutes--at least an hour too long. Watching the amazing Kate Winslet play air guitar is just too much to ask of the audience. What is with the movies and music? Over done, too loud and no more dancing around while singing to the cute music! Risky Business had the ultimate and should have been the last dancing by myself movie moment. The only one worse than Cameron drinking and dancing in The Holiday is possibly Hugh Grant twitching his booty to the Jump in Love Actually. It is just painful to watch.
The Holiday could have been so much more than two lonely women switching homes. The story went nowhere. I found myself getting ancy as half way thru Jack Black still had not appeared and I knew we would have to endure at least another hour of bringing him in and developing Ha! his story line.
This film would have benefited from some judicious editing.
Yes. The Kate Winslet air guitar thing was monstrous. Her manager should be fired immediately. And when Diaz was doing her thing, I couldn't even watch. Bridget Jones' Diary was the last time it was cute to sing to music all by yourself, IMHO. I just cannot stand to see one more person do it.
I'd like to add that Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, while both very pretty people, have all the sexual chemistry of a banana and a pineapple lying together in a tupperware bowl.
