As we settle into the nighttime of dispair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!
Good morning!!
We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!
It's over, he's gone. Saddam Hussein was hung last night in Iraq at just after 10 PM ET, or just after 6 AM ET local time.
The person who filmed the execution said that he saw fear in Saddam's eyes while he was on the gallows.
United States troops are said to be ready for a surge in violence, but the biggest event so far was spontaneous celebrating in Baghdad streets. The Government did not impose a 24-hour curfew.
A last minute appeal was lodged into the United States court system. The United States District Court summarily dismissed the measure, saying it had no jurisdiction over foreign matters.
Saddam was asked if he had anything to say, and he answered: "No, I don't want to." He did, however, say somthing before he was hung. His last words are: "'God is great. The nation will be victorious and Palestine is Arab."
True to the end, however, those who have no respect for human life, but coach themselves as watchers of human rigts, said things like that of Richard Dicker, director of Human Rights Watch's International Justice Program: "Saddam Hussein was responsible for massive human rights violations, but that can't justify giving him the death penalty, which is a cruel and inhuman punishment." In response to Mr. Dicker--one cannot hold life sacred unless one is willing to hold those repsonsible for taking in wihtout cause to the highest penalty. Fortunately, for Iraq, that has now come to pass, and the healing for many hundreds of thousands may begin.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
LET'S ROLL!!!
Good morning.
Good morning.
Thank goodness it is over, saddam is gone. Unfortunately we will be inundated with the hanging for some days.
First??
Good Morning everyone.
Good morning lysie. How is the world treating you this wonderful day?
As another FReeper posted yesterday:
"That Saddam is a real swinger!" ;^)
Personally, I want to see him do the dance at the long end of the rope, just to make sure he's dead. I'm sure the Iraqis agree. BTW: from what other FReepers are posting, except for Fox News, the rest of the MSM is busy feeling sorry for the tyrant and bemoaning the cruelty of his hanging. Barf...
The bug I had just before Christmas is still lingering. It's not that I'm in bed all day long, but the simplest tacks seem to wear me out.
Each day I can do a few more..for a longer period of time.
Strange, huh? ..coming from people who have no problem with murdering the unborn.
If it is the one I had at Thankasgiving, it takes quite a while to regain your strength. Plus I had a cough that lasted about three weeks.
Good morning. He may be a real swinger; I just read that he was well hung, too.
It only makes sense in the fact that it's a victory for the Bush Administration in the WoT. If these clowns were living under Saddam, they'd be the first ones he'd torture and execute.
LOL! We're bad! ;^)
Perhaps there is a virus on ATRW. I have been sick since the Wednesday night before Christmas. Extremely weak and tired out by the simplest tasks. I've been doing the saline spray and drinking fluids. Next cold I will have some zicam swabs sent by a FRiend.
Well, I am off to do closet cleaning, and will check in later.
It has been a long day. I spent a lot of time on the Live Dead Thread; I was fearful there would be a last minute interuption and didn't want to be late learning about it.
Then, I made some cottage cheese for our lasagne tonight. Finally, a good recipe. I think I'll be making more and re-enjoying some favorite recipes using that cottage cheese.
I'm hoping JT will call sometime. He called Christmas Day. Actually, he called twice Christmas Day because the first time he called, the connections were so bad and there was no response to my cheery "Hello, Merry Christmas" that I HUNG UP ON HIM! LOL! But, I'd like him to call tonight just to give us the view from ground almost zero.
But I'll leave the phone answering to people more awake and with better ears than me. I'll be back in the AM. b Cheerio!
Now that Saddam has met his eternal judgment, it will be interesting to see how the left/dnc/dbm portray this event.
I'm betting there will be much gnashing of teeth and muttering about how something like this makes us no better than the dictator we removed.
Forget all of his atrocities, forget his use of chemical weapons against his own people, forget the rape and torture rooms, forget all of that...in their view, since he wasn't George Bush, he couldn't have been all that bad.
Prayers for the safety of our brave men and women who daily risk it all protecting this great nation.
I am off to do closet cleaning...
Ahhgh! I knew there was something I was neglecting to do... ( grumble! ) where did I leave my list?
