Well, maybe we could take a little longer than Iraq, but the time lag between conviction, appeals, and execution is way outta whack.

I see the Yes vote has a bare majority of 93%. Not a good night for the "end the death penalty" crowd.

I voted YES.

And we should execute for any violent felony on the first offense including armed robbery.

Freeped. I love the results. Not too much from the anti-death penalty crowd.

"not too much from the anti-death penalty crowd"

No reason for them to even respond. The death penalty, like illegal immigration and abortion has nothing to do with what the citizens want and only with what the judges and politicians want.

The decision to sentence a person to death should not be made lightly (and it could be made more stringent), but once convicted and the appeals have gone through, the felon should be put to death almost immediately. Unless there is a time of civil uprising or something, there should be no death row.

Your second sentence seems a bit extreme (opinion--obviously). The death sentence should only be used if the criminal is a murderer, or had attempted (not only plotted) to kill more than one person. If the guy planned for the deaths of many (as in hundreds) and if the plan was relatively advanced, then that felon could (iffy) be sentenced to death, too.

It wasn't extreme until very recently.

Used to be you'd hang horse thieves and robbers etc. and unsurprisingly we didn't have nearly as many of them.

Heck we should be hanging folks for the following at a minimum :

Child molestation
Burglars
Rapists
Murderers
Seditionists
Identity theft
Fleeing police in comission of any crime

Hang em and do it within the week.

You seem very worried about being fair to criminals whereas I am of the opinion if we just killed them we'd be a lot better off.
