Time for a new political party [Good luck with all that - Zot!]

Posted on 12/19/2006 5:29:03 PM PST by 9999lakes

It may well be time for a new conservative political party. The republicans have failed, and failed big-time to deliver for conservative causes. They seem inclined to nominate CINO only like Rudy Guliani or John McCain, and neither of those candidates is gonna do one thing for conservative issues.

Said another way, the republicans are part of the problem, and no part of any solution.

But it IS time, to make substantive changes, and the GOP seems not to be part of them.

A movie in the 60s by Mel Brooks. It was revived on Broadway as a musical very recently. A huge pop-culture phenomenon a few years ago.

The plot is that two guys figure out a scam where they sell shares worth 25% of a show to, say, 8 people. If the show's a flop, the producers make a bundle.

But if the show makes money, the whole scam falls apart.

OK. Thanks. I've given a lot of thought as to WHY the so-called "third party" people do what they do. They have to know up front, they will not accomplish a thing. If they don't, they're delusional.

Are they wanting to help the opposite side? Is this a way to get publicity?

It makes no sense but then it makes no sense for certain "conservatives" to believe they can actually achieve what they profess they want by joining a "third party". Where are they going to get the votes? They don't think this through. They need Republicans to achieve what they want. We already have a Republican party and if they just join with the rest of us, we can make some progress.

[Well, the conservative candidate won the Primary anyway. But the damage had been done by the RINO liar and the lies stuck. Despite promises of money and help from the NRCC and the state party, NONE of that happened in the General. The Republican Party from the state level up to the national level abandoned this conservative candidate and gave up the congressional district to the Democrat.]

Yes, this is what the republican party has degenererated too and they are so ignorant and arrorgant they just refuse to be conservative. There is not a conservative left in the pubs and it has degenerated into the other liberal party.

There are a lot of reasons that the third-partyites (assuming they are genuine and not trolls and plants) do what they do. Some are just provocateurs who want to stir the FR pot and get others to respond. Some see this as their way to power and relevance. They hate it when I call them "impotent," but that is how they act. They'd rather rule in the LP than serve in the GOP.

For them, politics is about agreement and fawning adoration. At LP meetings (or, more specifically, on LP blogs/message boards) they get heads to nod in their direction. They don't have to persuade anyone and losing is verification of their principle. They'd be the ultimate in principle if no one voted for them at all.
