Just kind of a tribute to John Palka. Marine (ca. 1965), blues lover, cat lover. Ornery. Not religious. Chicago boy. Missed by those who knew him.

I dunno if he would like something like this posted, but what the heck. He'll let me know if he doesn't like it.

God Bless your friend, we as Americans are FOREVER grateful that he served in the Marine Corps.
To: dynachrome
Please tell us a little more about him. You have our condolences. If he was a Marine, he was a fine man. Was he from Massachusetts?

So sorry for your loss. Perhaps he'd like us to think of him, not so much as passed away, but as no longer a threat to our marriages! (a little funeral humor there, hope it's not tasteless, but I thought an ornery marine might like that one!)
And I'm indebted to his service.

To be remembered is an honor. To be missed is the true measure of one's life. He'd appreciate it. To lose a friend isn't easy. But we all play a role, even if a small one, in this thing we call life. And life is all about your effect on others. Here's to "Bluesboy" Palka. May he rest in peace.

My condolences on the passing of your friend. All who mourn his passing are in my prayers today.

What tips the scales for a gentle heart is John's love of cats, being a Marine and ornery, notwithstanding. That, and the fact that he will be missed by those who knew him, and now even by those who did not know him. Thank you for sharing one of America's sons with us, dynachrome. And thank you, John, for your service to our beloved country.

"from Massachusetts?"
Chicago and Colorado. A prickly sort. My guess is that if he had signed up on FR(which I urged him to do), he would have gotten zotted eventually. Would have enjoyed the Viking kitties, anyway.

I asked because I clicked on the Dynachrome link...it is in Newburyport, MA.
Anyway...your comment brought a smile to my face! In three sentences, I got the gist of him.
I will have a drink to your friend, and you, this holiday season. To the Prickly Ones...who served...and who are on their real journey home...:)
