Any funny stories from your family's Christmas get togethers you'd like to share?
What are your favorite holiday movies?
Do you get your Christmas tree the way they did in "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?
Hi Millee!!
I started the singles thread for the first time in months.
Now I can't find the ping list!
Find it?
Yup.
What's new, Phil?
I'm going to be off to pick up Hoodie at the airport here in a bit, so we'll be on when I get back with her. About 10:30-11ish.
Nothing much.
How bout you?
Hangin' around. How's Crystal? Is she going to become a Freeper?
Well, I haven't mentioned it to her yet but one of these day, maybe I'll remember to. Her birthday is Sunday, so Saturday night I've got a huge date in store for her.
Do tell. We want details! Well, *I* do. Nobody else is here.
Well, I've got a bouquet of roses ready (that she doesn't know about), plus a b-day present and a romantic dinner at a nice restaurant. So...tomorrow's the big day. (I'd better figure out how to get to the place).
I'm here, if anyone cares.
Lol, there's always Mapquest.
When I was a kid at home our tradition was to put up the tree on December 15th. We opened our presents on Christmas Eve after it was dark, about 6:00 p.m. Just to torture me my parents would load me and the dogs up in the car and take a long ride in the evening so it would get dark while we were gone. Then I'd pass out the presents. I'd open the dogs' presents. My parents would then sit at the kitchen table and listen to country music and drink eggnog and beer with cheese and Saltine crackers. I'd play around the tree with the TV on Christmas shows and have RC Cola and Ruffles with french onion dip. As it got late my mother would do some preparations for the big feast the next day with lots of company. Daddy would go make a final check on the animal sheds. If it was like subzero temperatures my parents would be up and down all night starting the cars to try to make sure they started in the morning. When I was in high school we finally got those things where you plug the cars in at night into an electrical outlet to keep the engine ok. That's what passes for my Good Ol' Days.
Good luck man!!
Don't do anything I wouldn't do...
Hmmm....
Bill
Yeah, I'm going to look it up...
...later.
We always did artificial trees. Put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
For Christmas, we did the big event at my Dad's side of the family, all the aunts, uncles, and cousins, about 15 of us, had dinner and behaved quite similar to the Griswolds. Always did it on Christmas Eve.
My mom's side is small, we sometimes had a dinner on Christmas day.
Nowadays, my parents are divorced, I go to my dad's or uncle's for the big event and my mom I usually just stop over for a small dinner Christmas day.
