Welfare workers to quiz Britney (Spears) over 'parenting concerns'
The Daily Mail ^ | December 6, 2006 | CLEMMIE MOODIE

Britney Spears is to be investigated by social service officials concerned about the welfare of her children, it has been reported.

The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services is apparently trying to track down the singer for a meeting.

Miss Spears, 25, split from her second husband, Kevin Federline, last month, and since then has been a fixture on the Hollywood party circuit.

She has been photographed – minus her underwear – at nightclubs in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, alongside socialites Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

According to newspapers in the U.S., authorities fear she is failing to provide proper care for her two sons with

Federline, Sean Preston, one, and three-month-old Jayden James.

‘The department has been calling Britney trying to set up a meeting with her, so they can check on Sean Preston and Jayden James,’ a source told the New York Post.

‘The calls started after this recent bout of bizarre public behaviour.’ Her antics are also said to be worrying her mother Lynne.

‘She is very disturbed and has been trying to get a hold of Britney, but she can’t,’ the source said.

‘Lynne, Britney’s brother, Brian, and her dad, Jamie, are very upset and are trying to stage an intervention with her manager’s help.

‘Her dad is not happy. He told her that she’s a grown woman and needs to act like one, and she’s been making bad decisions.’

‘The department has been calling Britney trying to set up a meeting with her, so they can check on Sean Preston and Jayden James,’ a source told the New York Post.

I don't understand. Is there any evidence of actual abuse?

We may not like the mother, nor her lifestyle, but no one doubts that she has the cash to hire a first rate care staff along with any other millionaire.

The DCFS isn't supposed to be condemning people because they are in the headlines partying. There needs to be some rock solid evidence that some sort of abuse is taking place.

If not, they should be shot on sight for trespassing or brutally savaged by Britney's bodyguards for even thinking they have the authority to approach a situation without any evidence.

I know people who have been harassed by these people for no good reason other than spite or some wild exaggeration. They routinely overstep their authority. Sounds like this is just another example. I hope they have proof, is all.

Somehow I think that on the scale of kids needing intervention, there's got to be a bunch of kids living in crack houses that rate higher.

Social Services, like the ATF, are afraid to go to Compton or South Central.

You know a child died last week in Georgia-the victim of parental abuse. Why would an agency harrass Britney Spears when there are so many legitimate cases out there.? Britney has the same rights to parent as she see fit as we all do-ridiculous.

Well, the child sevices has been involved with Ms Spears over prior problems with the child falling.
That could be the reason for their interest rather than the bottomless photos floating around the internet.

Its a sorry shame that Madonna rubbed off on her.?

Call me a Trailer Park magnet, but I'd still happily rub off on her. ;-)

You are a Trailer Park magnet.

I do like the outfit Brit's wearing, of course.

I'm sure her nanny staff is competent. It's Britney that I question. And her baby's daddy.

How many mothers leave the kids with the grandparents or babysitters to go out on the town? Was it the no panties thing that was the problem?

She annoys me, but this is ridiculous grounds to start a child services investigation. Perhaps they should station agents at every bar, and demand to know who is babysitting their kids while they are out? That apparently is what she is guilty of, going out clubbing while the kids are likely asleep with a nanny there supervising.

Is she a wonderful human being? No. Would I do the same thing? No. That really isn't the point though. This isn't abuse. This is typical rich behavior. Perhaps we can charge the parents who jet off to Vail for the week-ends with abuse too.

Exactly, why on earth would these SS be investigating her? Have they had a complaint? Is it reliable?

I'm sure it's SOP as part of the divorce proceedings, since both parties are requesting full custody. The tabloids are just spinning it to make it look like its tied in with her partying ways.

"‘The department has been calling Britney trying to set up a meeting with her, so they can check on Sean Preston and Jayden James,’ a source told the New York Post."

sheesh...
What a load of BS. In case anyone out there didn't realize, tabloids tend to print nothing but unsubstantiated rumors. They aren't what anyone would call a reliable news source.

Her and Anna Nicole Smith.
