LISBON (AFP) - Oscar-winning US actress Gwyneth Paltrow feels dinner talk is far more interesting in her adopted homeland Britain than back in her native country.
"I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner," she told "NS", the weekend magazine supplement of daily Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias on Saturday.
"I like living here because I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilized than the Americans," the 34-year-old added.
Paltrow, who won a best actress Oscar for 1998's "Shakespeare in Love," lives in London with British band Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin whom she wed in 2003.
She said having US pop star Madonna, 48, who married British film director Guy Ritchie six years ago, nearby was another advantage to living in London.
"She's like an older sister. Everything I have gone through, she went through ten times worse and ten times longer. She gives me good advice about how to say no and take care of myself," said Paltrow.
I dunno...maybe her mother was the influence that made her pro-Brit. After all, she was named "Gwyneth," wasn't she?
NEPOTISM. That's one of the many hypocritical issues the hollywierdos have-- most of them are only rich/ famous because of their mommys, daddys & grandparents.
If she's as intelligent as she thinks she is, she's going to regret making such an arrogant statement. Probably she will say some things were mistranslated from Portugese to English.
"I love the English lifestyle, it's not as capitalistic as America. People don't talk about work and money, they talk about interesting things at dinner,"
Gee, easy for her to say after having been lucky and rich enough to go to grade school that costs $30K a year.Lucky enough to be paid millions a year.
What's the f'n problem of millionaire actors who suffer such terrible angst and self loathing?! Oh I forgot, it's due to the fact that anybody can be an actor, what other job requires zero education or skill that allows 8 year olds to rpetend to be someone else.
Please stay in Europe and never make another movie again.
Where oh where is Kevin Spacey when you really need him in character?
I would not consider acting to be work.
Another piece of American white trash who wants to pretend to be Royalty and rise above the "commoners"
And brats who never worked a day in their lives who get million dollar movie careers through mommy and daddy become arrogant c**nts.
I wonder if actress from nepotism Gwenno now has the same fake Brit accent as Whoredonna.
mostly lack thereof, and in France too. Which is why we are so hated (and envied) in Western Europe. Americans work their tails off for all the wealth we have created, but thats a fact reported so little. The European and liberal view is that somehow all we undeserving boors have been born into all this wealth, when so much of the world (and deservedly so because it's self made) lies in poverty. I have visited Europe a few times and when I see all these people sitting in outdoor roadside cafes smoking and drinking beer all day, I can't help but wonder -- do they ever work ?
RHINOHUNTER: "The Americans are much more successful and have better personal hygiene than the British"
"Blast!! The bloody rebels have found us again! By Jove I don`t understand why we can never sneak up on them!"
.
Well, she is an actress you know.
I love hearing certain individuals pontificating against capitalism from their $20 million beach house in Malibu.
What in the world *do* Hollywood communists talk about at dinner?
Homosexuality? Spinning all news and entertainment for political agendas?
I mean, really. What do they talk about? Perhaps that's the problem - who she's hanging around with at those dinner tables.
Perhaps if comrade Paltrow were to dine with some non-Hollyweird, non-leftists for a change, her droopy disposition might improve.
