The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Those are some pretty flowers. Might have to plant some myself.

Thanks. The website has some good ideas too.

I've not had much luck with Morning' Glories, which surprises me. I didn't think they'd be difficult to grow. Is there a secret?

Tonight's the first night I've really heard the frogs from the pond nearby - dang they're loud!

I've been calling 'em spring peepers, but apparently that really refers to a variety of frogs that live back east. I'm guessing these are Pacific Chorus Frogs. They do sound a lot alike, though.

It's a nice sign of spring!

As the snow receded from the front walk, I found a little snowdrop coming up right in the inside corner of the walkway to the front door! A hopeful little sign of spring, but it was curled up tight this afternoon against bone chilling cold we had! I went out to get the mail and the just cut right through my jeans, GAK! it was cold! It's supposed to be nasty cold the next two days, then it looks like the worst of winter is over. Supposed to be in the upper 30's and low to mid 40's over the next week or so. I LIKE that!

Our great nephew asked if I'd do a Flat Stanley for him. I took Stanley to the Museum of Science in Boston. We got pictures of him with all kinds of cool things. It was around the time of the LOTR exhibit, and they had a life sized Smeagol in the gift shop, so I got a picture of them together. I even got a picture of Stanley in front of one of the Duck Boats that was parked outside the Museum, waiting for passengers!

Wasn't quite as exciting or stare inducing, as Flat Frodo, but it was fun, nonetheless.

It's cold here. Too cold for frogs. Or spring.

He did ok, most of the day...this evening it started hurting.

I doped him up with 800mg of Advil and a couple of Benadryls to help him sleep. He's out like a light now.

I got the bathroom done. Yes, me...he helped a bit, mostly advise. It even involved repairing some sheetrock behind the loose tile.

Heya - I'm headed out to your favorite 'vacation' destination next week. Well, technically across the bay and up the hill, but still in the neighborhood.
