The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

A hot soak... mmm... wish we had the setup for it but our bathroom is kind of bleah and currently covered with paint supplies.

We got so much wood at the hardware store (for floor and wall trim) that I could barely get into the car!

We watched that game 'live', or I should say, delayed because of the time difference. I remember, though, that a local newscaster got his head handed to him on a platter because he got excited and 'spilled the beans' and told viewers the outcome of the game during one of those several second blurbs between TV shows, before the game was actually aired in the States. The station issed an apology the following day, and I think the guy was either fired or demoted.

It WAS an exciting game. SirKit was in Grad School at FSU, and we went to the apartment of friends to watch it.

It'd be interesting to bring one of the weed ones in. His desk is already vey cluttered. A week or two and it'd disappear entirely.

Those things are rather impressive.

A spider plant would be nice, though.

That would be more creepy to me than an aloe would!

It's the texture of aloe plants that makes 'em a little scary, IMO. Fleshy and that.

We just looked out the window and were going to post to you that it was snowing! Wind gusts up to 54 mph last night!

In other developments, I finally found a product to take the paper backing off the walls--Greased Lighting! It worked slick as a whistle, even after I broke down and bought the commerical wallpaper stripper which worked no better than my tried-and-true Palmolive solution (which wasn't working at all!) Stripping wallpaper...ick!

I was hoping that the wind would blow the rest of the leaves into the neighbors' yards. But then I guess their leaves are blowing over to me so I still have a little bit of raking to do...sometime.

It's still flurrying a little bit here.

OB just left to go to the office for a couple of hours so I guess I will go multi-task, stripping wallpaper and ironing. I have found the best way to get the backing off is to spritz it well, cover it with plastic and leave it for 15-20 minutes to let the Greased Lighting do it's magic. And sitting here surfing is not getting it done. BBL--LSA

I'm being lazy....sipping coffee and watching the flurries.

Well, I've got some laundry going.

I just had to peek

I was only able to turn about half of my compost pile a couple of days ago, the rest was still frozen.

Matthew got third place!!

Whooohooo! He just called me from the actual derby. Third place out of all the RA chapters in the state of Oklahoma (for his age group...Crusader, 4-6th grade.)

Joshua's age group (Lads, 1st-3rd grades) races at noon.

PS: My "Lightning McQueen" got 4th in the leaders/parents race.
