The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

SuziQ and SirKit are still working on their house, which will be an excellent advertisement for their mad skilz when they move back to the Southland.

You got that right, hon! We need a blog or sumthin, but folks might get bored cause it's taking so long! ;o)

Yeah, the cute doctor angle is a very important considering...erm....

I suppose I could see myself doing something with kids or the elderly...that's a little different. But even so, I dunno. Responsibilty is scary. ;-) Like I said, though, the courses would be interesting. Maybe I'll take some anatomy and physiology and such.

Looks like the hospital requires a six month commitment for volunteers, so I reckon either way I should wait until I know what I'll be doing with my spare time before I commit to any such thing.

Spending way too much time goofing around with the new phone. It plays music, which I've always thought was a pretty silly thing for a phone to do. On the other hand, I'm not really supposed to play CDs in the computer at work, and it means I can bring whatever I want to listen to without having to mess with another gadget. Kinda nice.

From Patriot Performance Materials, the folks who make the MOLLE adapters for the Hobbit Hole sheath knives, comes another handy product.

For those of you with a rifle rack in the back of your truck, the perfect seatback organizer. It comes in a number of camouflage patterns, and is perfect for keeping the rear seat from getting cluttered.

Heh, yeah, I love my ipod, it's quite an old version, because it means my music is always right at hand. I don't need a phone to play music since I have that but if I didn't a mp3 phone would be nice. And you can probably set the music as you ring, right?

I tell ya, it's been a long time since I've been completely stuned...but it happened yesterday.

I was walking through the CompUSA in Tulsa, looking for a DVR with a harddrive, when I walked past a TV screen. It was hugh, but that's no big deal...big screen TVs have been around for forever.

It was the actual picture. Cars was playing on it and it looked so realistic and absolutely crystal clear that I had never seen anything like it. I literally stopped in my tracks and stared at it like those kids in Grapes of Wrath staring at the candy in the truck stop! I really could hardly believe my eyes it was so clear!

They had a strategically placed recliner, so the jedis piled up in it and kicked back and started watching it while I went ahead and looked for my DVDR. When I found out they didn't have one, I came back and stood for a long time just marveling at the quality of that TV!

My fascination drew a crowd, eventually there was half a dozen folks standing around gaping at the TV with my kids kicked back in front of it...a salesman came over and gave the whole pitch. I didn't pay a bit of attention, so I don't even know what kind of TV it was...after all, it was $3K.

Not gonna happen, you know...

My TV is 15 years old...got it the day before Steve and I got married.

Heh. I can go in and I can go out!

It's nice not having to kick the door to get it sealed right.

I live such an adventurous life, don't I. :)

Sounds like a mighty fine TV!

We have a bit of a winter wonderland here... just a trace.

It's dreary out here...but at least it's not butt-numbing cold. Sixty four degrees.

Hey, you know after Joshua watched that Cars movie, he got interested in Route 66? We checked out a bunch of books and videos about it and he even joined the Oklahoma Route 66 Association. He wrote them a nice letter in cursive telling them he wanted to join "to help Route 66". Heh!

Anyway, they wrote him back, sent him his membership card and also a package with a little lava lamp night light! It's got "Mater" on it...from the Cars movie.

He was absolutely thrilled. Click here to see the letter...what a riot!!

Dear all,

Pippin is off line. She is locked out of FR at work, and her home 'puter is screeching.

From her description, it sounds like a hard drive problem.

She extends her regards to all her FRiends, and will be back as soon as she can. She asked that I post this so y'all wouldn't worry if you didn't see her for a while.

Best,

nully

It will be interesting to see how much the draft coming through the ill-fitting has been cut down with thenewdoor. You'll be able to check it out tomorrow morning (between 3-4:30 a.m.) when we get our snow :)
