The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I'm still trying to figure when he sleeps. 'Cause the few times I've stopped by the store at six thirty or so, he's manning the cash register.

Maybe he's an android.

'Morning!

Last night I listened to the UNC - High Point game...Coach Williams' 500th victory. Then it was Mystery Science Theatre's version of "Earth vs the Spiders."

This morning it was the second half of a Lewis and Clark documentary. Bummer when it ends in suicide.

I guess I should go explore The Shire now.

You sure they weren't watching Starship Troopers? We caught part of that on TV last night, and Joseph was astounded by the sheer stupidity. THAT one deserves the label of craptacular!!

Well, low-carb egg-nog could be interesting. Guess I never read the carton.

Got the popcorn, didn't want to give up my sinew-feather can, so I a got a new one. sigh.

I think I've seen Splenda sweetened stuff in the stores. Also some made with milk instead of cream and then some sort of thickener added, but that doesn't sound as good.

Afternoon, folkses... :-)

[sip]

So, here I find myself at the airport again. Once more into the breach...

Woohoo! Meetings you have to fly to are always the best kind of meetings. I'm sure they'll be wonderfully productive and I'll be really glad I went.

Do I detect just a hint of sarcasm in all that? Hm...

Ungh...I have a headache again.

I'm thinking maybe I need new glasses or something. This is getting old.

Me, too. Only at oh-dark-thirty tomorrow morning. A full week of tests and meetings. Hopefully I can squeeze some Christmas shopping ino the evenings.

oh-dark-thirty tomorrow morning.

Ouch. My days of [voluntary] early-morning travel are, I hope, over.

I don't move well in the morning. I'd much rather travel the night before for an early meeting (like I have tomorrow) than do the early thing. I used to do that, alot. But by the end of those days I'd be babbling nonsensically.

Well, OK... I'm arguably babbling nonsensically anyway. But I'm not quite so wiped out. :-)

I'm thinking along the lines of fat-free half and half, egg, Splenda, and a drop or so of vanilla.

If it doesn't work, I'll break down and get some high-cal stuff. It's not like I have eggnog all year 'round.

I just sleep on the plane. Makes it go by faster. I'm intrigued at how badly my nose is out of joint because I won't be able to keep my frequent flyer status next year. My project is moving into a different phase that won't require as much travel. This is a good thing! But I've become a bit of a snob about the little perks that come with the 'status' ... like being at the front of the line for everything. LOL. I'm silly.

Hey, being home will be worth it.

Sigh. I was going to make curry for dinner but we're out of rice and I don't feel like getting more. So sleepy...
