The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I might put up a feeder in the spring but considering the pups have already caught and killed two birds that might be considered unsporting.

LOL!! I have to agree. We had a fun time one afternoon watching a squirrel hanging by his back toes, raiding our bird feeder!

Our kittens got two more birds in the past couple of days. :(

But they did get a mouse this morning too... sort of. They were just playing with it on the porch, so we had to call Gidget out to finish it off. Two quick chomps and it was history.

There are these thick low trees out back that are a mass of little branches, and birds sit under them and eat stuff. But the dogs just tear through the branches like they aren't there and eat the birds.

Mmmmmmm......Brunswick stew....

I wonder how many squirrels you need to shoot to yield a pound of squirrel meat.

Heh, well, there's the bone weight factor; tossing in two cut up squirrels should net you a bit less than pound of meat; watch the bones...

I scrubbed the bathtub today. My life is a success. Or something.

I decided to paint the bathroom instead of scrubbing it.
